Finally got my Z today... pics and recap
After 8 months that seemed like 8 years, I got the call this morning. I actually just got home from driving around all day and night. Put 100 miles on the car today cruising ALL OVER San Diego with Rob (rpgonzalez).
Man, the car drives like a dream. I could go on and on about it, but here's a cool story instead. After I got the car, I drove back by work to show it to the guys. I was giving my coworker Andy a ride down the long street leading to our building, when I notice a gray Acura NSX in my rear window. He's obviously interested in the Z; he and his buddy are pointing at it and generally checking it out. So, I open up the throttle a bit and pull away playfully.
I turn around at the end of the street and start heading back. It turns out that they stopped their car, and are just sitting there checking out my 350Z. As I'm driving back, I wave to them and they give me a thumbs up! How cool is that! A thumbs up from a $90k NSX.
A long-*** write-up is on my website at:
http://nate.wiger.org/index.cgi?topic=350z&style=1
I tried to make it fun to read, so if you're fiending for Z info, check it out.
Without further ado, here are some pics:

Dude, I just read your story on your website. You are already beating the engine up. Keep it cool for the first 1000 miles...you said you already took it up past 90.
WOW. Downshifting and flooring it with 100 miles on the car will do you only bad.
At the very end, there's a sharp right-left-right that felt like a rollercoaster, leading back onto the 52 East. I downshift and floor it, taking it up to redline and from 30-100 in a matter of seconds. We were going uphill, but the Z didn't care. The oozing of torque from every crevice in the car is addictive.

funny
yeah its funny that the 350 z is winning in the pole "z vs. nsx"
I mean come on. the z is my next car, but i dont have my head stuck up my *** enuff to know that the z is not in the same class as an nsx. the nsx competes w/ vipers n' ****. so im really dissapointed to see that pole so lop sided. frong, your still killin me!!!!

One of my friends from work - actually, my old boss, who's been around cars forever and is an engineer - says that you really don't have to worry about breakin of modern engines. Granted, you should not redline it consistently or floor the throttle repeatedly, but truthfully, you shouldn't be doing that EVER, breakin or not.
Now granted, he's not a VQ35DE engine expert...
Regardless, once you get yours, you will realize how badly the car begs to be driven at least to 5k RPM.

But not consistently. And not until the engine was well warmed-up. I hardly pulled out of the driveway and immediately redlined the thing. I only did so after driving for over an hour. And what's done is done, so it's moot...

pimpo contrats
NIZL...
Congratulations... a pimpin' long wait... but the pimpin' best is always worth the wait. Great pimp pix... also...
I will be waiting to see pics of the pimpin' audio setup after you get your pimps to pimp it up. Should be the best pimp sound this side of the pimp world inside the pimp palace of the pimp Z.
As Stones sang... "get it up.. pimp it up now baby..."
