Default Fixing the annoying seat belt rattle for under $5

I happen to be in a Kragen autoparts and saw a "seat belt shoulder pad" made by Axius. It did the trick and eliminated that passenger seatbelt rattle found on 2003 350Z's.

Yes, I know there is a clip to prevent the rattle but to be honest, it is bothersome to have to pull the set forward and clip it each time and I only seem to remember when I am driving it the next time and hear the rattle after I am already moing down the hwy.

So for $4.79, I put this fake sheepskin cover on (velco's right on in 10 secs.), it does not rattle even when it is not clipped. Now, I never have to clip it again which means I dont have to pull over to the side of the road to get rid of that annoying rattle.

I know it might not bother many of you but it did me.

BTW, my Z is turning 7000 miles and the only problems have been a dashboard rattle, grease streak, and footrest peddle replaced. All of these were fixed on one visit so with so little problems, I guess it is easy to worry about a little seatbelt rattle.

I agree about the rattle. That's kinda ugly though. I guess it's mostly hidden but every passenger's gonna go WTF is this
I try not to haul many people around too.
Gotta get rid of my rearview mirror rattle first.
Thanks.

Well, I was thinking of the NISMO one but did not know if it or something like it would fix it. I decided to get this because it was right in front of me at the time and for $5, no big investment. The only time you really see it is when you pull the seat forward or I guess if someone puts the seatbelt on. If the looks get to me, I'll buy the Nismo one maybe when I am at a Nissan dealer. To be honest, I dont personally like the letters NISMO written in larger letters. Maybe if you flip over the NISMO pad it does not have the letters on both sides? I am a guy that likes the "clean" look meaning not writing on a car. Again, this is all just personal taste.

The good news is something like this does the trick and gets rid of the rattle if it annoys you. I drove around listening for a rattle for 30 mins and did not hear one over bumpy roads and even under hard cornering.

fairladyZ in Japan:

Have you tried to see if the NIMSO stops the rattle? Let me know, thanks, Jeff

I am simply having the 2004 seat belt extenders installed in my 2003. That will not only stop the rattle but also make the seat belt more easily reachable.

Another way to stop the rattle is to stick a square of black mousepad material on the pillar in the spot where the seatbelt buckle hits the wall. I remember seeing someone do this a while back and I liked it cause nothing was attacthed to the seatbelt.

Luckily, I have long arms and can just reach over there and stick it in the clip no problem.

How about less than $0.50? I used a bicycle helmet pad with sticky backing just under the buckle location. Totally hidden, no effort and complete silence.

How about if you dont have anything good to say, dont say anything. There are plenty of things people do to their car and I would not do to mine but I dont have to tell them I dont like it.

Being rude is not funny, it is simply ignorant and rude. I was trying to help people that might want to get rid of a rattle. What are you doing besides acting inmature?

Ok what's wrong with the pad zland put on there. It matches in color I personally don't think it looks that bad. I like it better than something blingy (is that a word?) and that would include a NISMO pad. I like the idea of placing a pad on the pilar but I also like the idea of the seat belt pad for the passenger. My lady has large ***** and she would appreciate it.

Yep, there could certainly be a better looking pad out there. The NISMO might be higher quailty but I am not into having NISMO written in big letters in my interior. Some guys like lettering all over their car, not me. I wish my car did not even have Nissan or 350Z written on it personally although I want make the effort to remove them.

At least we all know now this type of set up will get rid of the rattling. I like the other idea posted about using a mouse pad type material as well.

BTW, I looked again in my car and you cannot see the pad I used at all when the pasenger seat is in the normal postion. I am driving my car alone 9o% of the time so I guess the first time I have a passenger that buckles up and says "nice car, too bad you got a $5 pad for it" is the time I know I need to get a higher quality one.

The bottom line is my annoying rattle is gone and the solution is not visible to me.

No, I dont hate it, just prefer without NISMO name for my taste. I know everyone has different taste, thank goodness or it would get boring.

Does the other side of the pad say NISMO too or is it blank where I could flip it over?

Nismo pad is blank on the other side.

Bought them on ebay.

$20.00 for the pair of neck pads.
$20.00 for 4 sealt belt pads..

Pretty nice.

And I understand what you are saying about not having any names and logos. Some people put too many name plates, decals, ???.com decals etc on their cars. For some show cars who are trying to satisfy a small sponsorship with a Kenwood or Alpine logo I can understand it , though I concur that I would not do it .

When I get my Nismo effects kit, I plan on adding the Nismo licencse plate frames in front and back, but I am not adding Nismo decal and stickers. Plates should enough to get my message across with out cheapening my car.

See ya.

zland....

The NISMO pad works very well on the lower portion ... and the seatbelt buckle slips into the pad while staying in the clip -- perfect !

FYI... the other side of the NISMO pad with the logo is.. black. No logo.
