clutch pedal
Greetings! This is my first post.
I just picked up a used 2003 DB Track the other day. (the editorial test vehicle from edmunds.com, to be exact) I've been drooling over the Z ever since the pre-order days, and finally! ... dream came true. I feel like the luckiest dood alive!
Anyway. I find the clutch pedal to hurt the bottom of my feet when driving for a long periods of time through traffic. I don't have HUMONGOUS feet, so that may be the problem, but it seems like the clutch pedal would work better for me if it was positioned a little lower.
Give it a few more days, and I'll probably just get used to it, but does anybody know if this is adjustable?
Great site here, and thanks in advance.

Congrats and welcome!
As for the clutch thing, I found that at first too, my left foot would cramp up and stuff, like near the toe area. It went away after a week, so its probably just you getting used to it, as well as the clutch getting a little less stiff as ya use it.
Good luck with the car, and post up some pics!

I was just talking about this with someone.
I'm probably just imagining this, but I seem to remember having the same reaction to the clutch when I first drove the Z (a 2003). I since bought my own (a 2004) and I could swear the pedal positoning is different in the '04.
Any truth to this?

The clutch in my old car ('97 328is) was much stiffer so I installed a clutch stop which I made from a bolt, a few washers and a rubber cap.
I found this to reduce foot fatigue because the clutch engaged about 1.5 inches away from the stop.
I am thinking about doing this with my Z.

I just got mine a week ago, and what surprised me about the clutch (compared to my Stealth) is how big the travel is for the clutch pedal. I feel like I have to lift my entire leg before the clutch engages.
Is there a way to adjust that?

I find the the clutch on the Z is a lot "grabbier" then the clutch on my civic. Honda's seem to engage closer to the top of the pedal, whereas the Z has to be pressed down ALL the way. I'm still getting used to it (put 600 miles on my Z so far), and the first coupla days of driving were rough. I've got it down pretty well now, it's just something you've gotta get used to.
awesome! thanks for the replies. I might try sticking some padding under the floor mat and tie it down with a safety pin. The added height should really help.
I won the edmunds.com 2003 Track on ebay with my last-minute bid of $25,555. $25k, for a '03 Track w/ 19k miles ($10,000 off new)? I thought it was a phenomenal deal.

Funny thing was the Edmunds.com offices turned out to be (literally) across the street from where I work. I just walked over to pick up the car. Off topic, but I went through ebay's financing company, provided by Household Finance. Save yourself some trouble by NEVER, EVER using them as a funding source. They're bunch of monkeys.
The car is freaken amazing. I've been dreaming about having one ever since I landed eyes on it at the LA auto show two years ago.
However, I only plan to enjoy this car for the next few months, until I save a few more bucks and trade it in for the Roadster.
Additionally, I thought I'd throw in a bit of useless information. I'm a web developer, and I work on the Nissan & Infiniti B2C sites on a daily basis for a consulting firm. I've been obsessively following this board & zcar.com for quite some time, definitely more for personal than professional purposes. I don't know much info about the manufacturing side of things, but over in e-biz, we don't have any information finalized about the changes in the '05s yet. On my next opportunity, I'm going to talk to the Client to see if they're doing anything about the tire issues. Off topic again, but on 4/8 (next week) check out nissanusa.com, and click on future vehicles. We're launching a micro-site with first views of the re-designed '05 Xterra. Definitely worth checking out!
