Personally, I don't think jealousy has anything to do with it. I think common sence does. Sure I would have loved for my parents to have bought me a sports car when I was 16 but now that I am an adult (and a parent) I understand why they didn't.

You're jealous because you have been saving a long time to get this car, and then this 16 year old gets it as his first car without paying anything. Stop hating, thats just the way things are.

You are absolutely right...That's just the way things are...I just hope that he comes back to the forum to let us know when he gets his first ticket or (God forbid) smashes up his car. I say when, not if, because 99.9% of 16 year-old boys with rediculously fast cars are the same. They think they're invincible and smarter than the cops. I know I did at that age. I'm not jealous because he got a Z at 16 and I didn't. I just realize now that my NOT having one probably saved my life, or at least lots of hassle. It just pisses me off that parents do this stuff because he WILL be unsafe to those around him. THAT is just the way things are.

His parents probably don't have a clue what it really costs to own the car, especially post-ticket or post-accident.

Like I said before, Good luck to him.

Nope. Stupidity on the part of the parents is what really pisses me off! And kc is right. It's only a matter of time (probably sooner than later) that he will crash it. Hopefully he won't seriously hurt himself, or worse!

Not to mention the fact that he probably has absolutely no behind-the-seat time (maybe 6 hours from a driving school) and is about to get behind the wheel of a high power, rear drive car that he has no clue how to handle. Combine that with the cavalier attitude that most of us kids have, and you've got some BIG trouble on your hands.

I agree 100%. When I was 16 parents were buying me a car I wanted a used old school bug or a sirrocco, but they didnt like the idea of me getting a car that old with the possibility of it breaking down often so they insisted I get a brand new car, went to the dealer saw this white RX-7 on the lot. It was within my price range but they said umm no! I ended up with a civic, if figure they were extremly kind enough to buy me a car, I was going to help out a little but really how much can I really help out at 16 so i decided to buy something that was affordable. Good thing I didnt get the RX7, I would have probably been dead by now. Even with the civic I got my self in trouble a few times here and there.

350Z is too much for a 16 years old. I really think all new drivers should start off with a simple car to pratice on. Thats my honest opinion.

Like I've said in my other thread, I've been driving A LOT with my mom and by myself (I know its very unsafe if I get caught) for over 2 yrs now. So far nothin has happened at all and I always drive very safely when I am around public, I only do fast driving and crazy stuff in certain places usually around in the middle of the night (I have some good places to do crazy driving around where I live) so I believe if anything will happen to me in the future, it won't be harming the public. I think its a very stupid thing to be driving fast and crazy in broad daylight in public. I hope ppl will agree on this.

I wholeheartedly agree... get your mistakes out on a less expensive car before going up to the more expensive and powerful cars. That's what I did, and I'm glad that it happened that way. There are definitely a whole lot of mistakes that I AM SURE not to repeat with the Z.

But if I was that kid, I surely wouldn't turn down a Z either. Oh well, he surely isn't going to be too popular in his school... most of the other kids are going to be jealous and do things that jealous kids do (plenty of stories on this Z board from sub-18 members about this). But his sex appeal probably climbed 10 points though with the 16-year olds

Well I'm not trying to incite any redicule or hypocrisy here, but I think 16 is just too young as well. I'm barely 21 and I am very fortunate to own a Z at my age - and believe me, others make sure that I'm aware of that as well. But having said that, I would never get my son or daughter a sports car for his or her first car - it's far too dangerous. Even getting a sports car for their second car (as is the case with me) is and can be dangerous.

It doesn't really matter what type of car you get when you start off driving. I had a freaking Jetta before this car, and although I was lucky (and yes I chose that word correctly) enough to never have an accident, but I did do some reckless sh*t in that car. I also received a nice ticket when I was 18 (intent to kill, or doubling the speed limit) - I got fined, 180 hours of community service, and technically I should have gone to jail (legally speaking, per VA law) You can believe I learned my lesson about speeding like that. I'm not obviously one of the older members of this forum, but I'm also not the youngest either. I am young enough to understand what the poster is probably thinking and going through - I mean we were all 16 at one time (this is especially true for 16 year old males) and man owning a Z at this age is incredible no doubt - but the point of all this is, the driver is going to learn the mistakes and limits of automobiles, and his own driving skills one way or another - a sports car just makes it incredibly much more risky to himself and other drivers out there.

I know this is going off the topic of insurance and all, but as soon as I saw the title with 16 year old in it, I immediately knew where it was going - as do all the threads with a driver who is usually 21 or younger.

anyways though, be safe driving man because that's going to be much more important in the long run than any numbers on an insurance bill

judgeing by the city he lives in Rancho Palos Verdes, he'll prob have one of the lesser expensive cars at school. "lesser expensive" haha damn does that even make sense but eya you know what i mean.

I dont think he means parents are stupid for buying him a nice car at 16...here in LA \OC a 30K car for a 16 year old is being cheap depends where you live. But the fact that his parents are buying him a car that may put him in danger is not a wise choice. If his parents had bought him a loaded Maxima or Acura TL etc then I dont think this thread would have gone the way it has because those cars are a lot more forgiving for a inexperience driver.

And to nitrousoxidex I know how it is around the city you live in, its no uncommon for a kid to get M3's, M5's, 996, or any car that cost twice as much as the Z. "I've been driving A LOT with my mom and by myself (I know its very unsafe if I get caught) for over 2 yrs now." Honestly 2 yrs of driving means ****, I can say that from experience. I know I was still f'ing around and doing stuff that I would never do now after 2 yrs of driving.

...ok i understand the part about his parents not being stupid or whatever.. but all he is asking for is insurance information..and since all of you have z's he wanted to know..he didnt ask what you think!....i dont understand whats the difference between maxima or tl... the z is a better handeling car then both of them..and if he would of mention this in the thread saying how he got a fully loaded tl or maxima.. THE KID WOULD OF GOT THE SAME RESPONSES..to nitrous next time say you are 24 years old and you just got a z... so these people could be happy..and make sure you dont drive it in the winter when its snow all over the place... but other than that .. the car is amazing and could handle very good
