I'm not dealing with that crap. I paid cash for my track, so if it starts feathering, I'll sell it and throw in the few extra grand it takes to buy an '05. Nissan's actions in regards to the feathering problem have been reprehensible, and I don't have time to play their games.
If you do that, please PLEASE have someone videotape it so the rest of us can receive enjoyment vicariously through your actions!

2004 models built beginning 11/04 are considered 2004.5 models. They have an updated suspension and kneepads (which I'd still like to see pics of). I'm not sure what other changes were made.

Default '04.........

One of the most important things you can do when you buy a new '04 is to have the alignment checked. Nissan does not align the cars at the factory. I had mine checked @ 500 miles and all 4 wheels were WAY off spec on toe. Currents specs put the toe at .04 & mine read between .13 & .35 all around. If I hadn't had them re-aligned the tires would have been ruined very quickly. Plus, being that they were so far off, my local dealer did it as a warranty job @ n/c.

Additionally, after adding new $950 tires, I plan on having the alignment checked every other oil change. Yes, a few extra $$ each time, but it beats having to replace tires every 5-7k miles for sure. Worth the peace of mind to me. Ahhh...the price we pay - ha!

See my pictures at https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....148#post519563 for kneepads on a JDM Fairlady Z. The US ones look the same.

Do you mean 11/03?

Here is a thread with pics of the knee pad:

Haha. Yeah. I've seen a few people make that mistake lately and I guess it's rubbing off on me.

Thanks for the links those who've shared.

My 04's build date I believe is 7/03 and I'm at 4880 miles. Picked it up at the end of August 03. So far, no feathering yet.

I have the knee pads on my Z, but mine was built in early 10/03 and it definitely is not a 2004.5, as per Nissan. Does that mean I have the newer suspension? I don't know.
