just scraped my car driving through a construction site on metal fence.. there are about 5-7 scratches and about 2-3 that are pretty deep..
any advice on what to try before giving up and taking it in to the bodyshop?
there's 1 or 2 scratches that are very thin but pretty thick (i think to the metal) now i know that those scratches most likely will never go away without repainting.. but i'd like to try some stuff before i'm forced to do that.

Try Meguiars wax on the light scratches OR wet sand with 1000 sand paper(just the scratches) polish and buff. Or touch up paint, haha.
