Default First oil change?

When do you get the first oil change? I'm heard so many things...500 miles, 2000 miles etc etc.

When should i get my first oil change?

Thanks a ton guys.

It's really personal preference. Some people get it at 500 miles, some get it at 1000, some at the end of break in (1200), some get it at 3000, some get it at 3500, and some at 3750. My choice was 3000.

My handy, dandy 'Owner's Manual' says: "...for premium service/maintenance, the recommended service interval is 3 months..."

"...for non-premium service (that one I think is funny --- "non-premium service????'): "...the service maintenance/interval is 3 months..." (duh... what's the difference???)

And finally, but not least...: if you don't do the three month gig: "the minimum service maintenance/interval is 6 months..."

And yup---this is 'addressing the changing of the oil'... which I also understand will be --- what ---- like one hundred bucks or so?

I have not had mine done yet --- but I have four free oil change tickets --- so can't atest to the $100 or plus (dealer) fee.

A lot also depends on how often you drive the car. If it's your daily driver, I wouldn't go past 3,000. If you drive it occasionally, you can definitely hold off longer.

Anybody paying $100 for an oil change is just plain getting ripped. I've had about five on my Z so far. My average price at the dealer has been about $20. I say average because sometimes they send coupons for $14 or $15.99.

I got my Z in November '03, so I didn't trust anyone but the dealer at first. As it turned out, they're actually cheaper than a Jiffy Lube or whatever. And if I make an apointment ahead of time, they're just as fast if not faster than those fast service oil change places.

$100 is definitely a ripoff. I've heard of things like Range Rovers costing that much for an oil change. Not a Z. Too bad you live in CA. If you lived here in Jersey, I'd offer to do it for you for half that.

I changed the oil at 1000 miles, planning on next oil change at 3000 miles. I will also change the transmission and differential oil at that time. Then will follow the manuals recommendations

I think he meant $ 100 for his 4 oil changes ...
$ 100 for an oil change would be crazy

my first oil change was at 3000 miles

Just had the first oil change done at 2500 miles. Dealer charges $19.95 and sends coupons for 3 bucks off that.

My dealer's coupons always seem to arrive about a week after I change my oil.

I changed my oil today at just over 3k and the oil was BLACK. This was my first oil change. I put Amsoil 0-30. The car seems to be lot smoother and maybe because I also had few other things done to my car along with oil change.

Installed Nismo Headers
Installed Denso Iridium Spark Plugs
Change to K & N Air Filter

Default oil

1600 miles, and went to Molile One 5w/30 synthetic. It really won't make any difference when you have your first oil change. I only did it then because I had nothing else to do and I was bored.

Yup, we in So Cal pay a 'hefty price' for auto services --- not to mention the current gas concern: $2.89 + for premium!

'Jiffy Lube'? C'mon dude! Is it really that bad out your way? ...Jiffy Lube.... (ouch)

I'm hoping that when the 'dealer' takes my 'Z' and does their 'voodo', the "price is right..."

All you enthusiasts: do you gas your 'Z's' up with 'premium'?
