Keep my S14(240sx), or get a 350Z?
I understand some people will just choose a 350Z b/c they have them and this a Z forum..But, I am looking for some opinions on why or why not getting a Z would be better for you. I just wanna hear some opinions from some different perspectives..here is the rundown..
I have a Nissan 240sx (S14 Kouki Silvia) with an SR20 swap, every bolt on, Garret GT25R turbo(around 400HP when it gets tuned), Cusco coilovers, GP sports body kit, and will be getting some new wheels, and a custom paintjob if I kept it.
OR,
I could sell it and all parts, and start a bigger investment with the 350Z. Mod it and eventually get a TT kit. I will still get wheels, suspension, aero kit, etc.
so pretty much, a modded S14 silvia, or a modded 350Z.(but, it will still take me a while for my Z to get all the parts that my S14 has now.)
I am looking for overall performance, exterior, and interior. I only want a car that would be worthy of the handling, power, and overall feel of my S14. I have driven stock Z's twice at the dealer,
and I love the ride. I like the newer, nicer styling of the exterior and interior of the Z. The only other car I like is the Supra. But, I one thing that I like about the Z better than both is its a newer car.
anyways, let me hear some of your opinions about this. What would you do? S14, 350Z, or maybe a Supra.
Also, dont suggest for me to go check out any wrx's, EVO's, RX8's, S2k.....I dont like them. I wouldnt replace my S14 with any of those.

performance... your s14 > 350z, right(i'm actually asking)? you can check that yourself, the 350Zs hp numbers, 1/4 mile, skidpad, etc. are all over the web.
exterior... subjective so it doesn't matter what we think. but i'm guessing you prefer the z to the 240sx.
interior... i'm sure the z is nicer than your 10yo s14.
i think it comes down to how badly you want to be seen driving a z, because that's the main advantage over your current car.

I just switched from an S14 to the Z. It's def. a step up, although anything is a step up from a base model automatic KA powered S14. I think that you should get the Z, I started to run into reliability issues with my 240 and with all of your mods it could get hard/expensive to maintain.

damn, thanx for the quick replies..yea, I have been on some Z boards for a few months now. I have already done alot of research on alot of cars. I know all the HP, 1/4 mile numbers, even prices of alot things.
I know this whole question is very subjective and is all based on ones personal opinion and preference. But thats why I posted... I just wanted different perspectives from other people that have different opinions.
But, keep the comments and opinions commin!

04_CS_Z33 - yea, with all these mods, it is running on the line of reliability.
not to mention, I do need this car for a daily driver b/c I cant afford two cars. So its either one or the other. I do have some issues/problems everynow and then...but let me ask yall this...
How reliable do yall think a daily driven TT-Z would be than an SR powered S14??? Some opinions on this would really help me out!
Thanks for the replies,
Jon

btw is it a stick or auto? If it is a stick how tall are you? I have problems reaching the clutch on certain cars. What times have you been pulling in that baby? Post Pics!

well, I have a buyer, but everything isnt rock solid...i am looking to get $15 grand for everything...thats what I am getting now, so I won't go any lower. and I am 5'8, and its easy to reach the clutch. also, its a 5spd, and i dont have times yet, b/c i'm in the middle of the turbo upgrade and tuning. but i should expect 11's easily.

If you could work it out, go with the Z. But I'll tell you that the S14 is a nice consolation prize in any case (if you can't reach your desired $ numbers). I'm actually actively searching for a 240SX in the $4-5K range for use as a daily beater.

modding your 240sx is a different animal then modding a 350z.
240 mods are proven
350z mods are not.
If you pull off a fast 350z is more impressive, because the 240sx has been done over and over again.

i would honestly try to do both, maybe alittle later down the road if possible. the 240sx and the 350z are both amazing cars, but with those bolt ons and the engine swap, you have one sweet ride. I would say try to not spend so much on mods, and in a year or so look for a barely used 2004 and make off like a bandit. I dont know what your financial situation is but i would think the 240 has really grown on you. Aftermarket for the 350 right now is not a buyers market, because of the expensive r&d and the engine is already tuned very well. If i had a choice i would keep the 240 and mod the hell outta it and make it straight JDM/silvia with sick wheels and body kit. You will never get back enough money on the mods to warrant selling in my opinon. Keep it and then have 2 amazing cars. thats my two cents.
