Default I got my black beauty (Atlanta)!

Ok, so check this out...

I'm at work today and I get a voicemail on my cell phone (I was on phone with a customer and couldn't get to my cell phone fast enough) at around 11:45 p.m.

The message was:
"Hey Sam this is Ken over at United Nissan. We have your car. Call me."

I didn't know what to say at first. My car wasn't supposed to be in for another couple of weeks. Part of me was stoked since the Z was here... yet part of me was pissed 'cause I was like "How did the dealer not know that it was coming any sooner?" (FYI... my Z was NEVER on the Nissan website inventory system).

Needless to say, I left work within 10 minutes and took a half day off. After coordinating a ride to the dealer (30 minutes South of Atlanta), I had the pleasure of staying at the dealer for over 3 hours while the paperwork was completed and the car was prepped. I was left to wonder why all the paperwork wasn't taken care of before I got there... but again, I was at the dealer within an hour of the call.

Many of you have seen my earlier posting regarding United Nissan. They attempted to make it a bit better by offering me a 4.89% 60 Month Loan (I had a 5.49% lined up--bank draft in hand). They even gave me a nice polo shirt, even though the sales manager stated, "We know about the post on my350z.com, but here ya go, hope there is no hard feelings."

I picked up the Black Beauty with 14 miles on it and drove it straight to Hot Spot Tinting (at the Car Spa on Windy Hill). There I got a 20% tint all the way around (except for the windshield). Word cannot explain how good the car looks with 20% tint. The service provided by Hot Spot Tinting was amazing (search for some of my earlier posts). They were great and very attentive to all details. They had three people working on my one car. The owner, Bridgette, even road with me (she de-virginized the passenger seat) through the Car Spa Car Wash to wash off all the overspray from the tint application.

So far everything is great... only things that I've noticed so far:
1. Why can't the drivers' seat have a latch to move it forward... you've got to reach across the seat and use the automatic seat button.
2. The Bose Sub seems strong. I've had to turn it to a -1.
3. The rear view mirror view is quite small. Very different than my Aucra CL.

I'll take some photos tomorrow. I got home and it was already dark out.

More posts coming soon!

hey,

Great to hear that you got your car and everything went well... I got my VIN today and I am sooooo Happy about it. Did you ever get a VIN I don't remember and if u did how long was VIN to Delivery??? Intresting to see that the dealer has been watching the boards.. How much was the tint job and can we get pics.. I am trying to decide weither to tint or not to and if i do where to go, I tipically go to a shop by me, Audio Concepts, good work and pretty quick but if I find somewhere else in the area that is better or can offer a signifigant lowerprice, or even better service then I'll go there.....

Congradulations....Now where is mine

Hey Sam,

How do you like the color of the paint on your car, I have yet to see a black Z. I have a Crome Silver Performance model in Atlanta. Also how much will it cost to get a 20% window tinting. It would be cool to compare cars one day. I have been driving my Z all over Atlanta for the past couple of weeks and have had a blast. You wikll get a big kick out of all the looks you will get in your new car.

The tint job was done at Hot Spot Tinting at The Car Spa on Windy Hill.

The owner, Bridgette, has been doing tinting/detailing for over 6 years.

They know what they are doing.

They took off the door panels and spent a great deal of detail preping the Z.

I can't say the exact price, but lets put it this way.

They normally charge $169 for a Z (they've now done 2--including me) and they're giving my350z.com members a bit of a break.

I got 20% and love it. Can't wait to see it in the sun light tomorrow (the sun was setting as I was leaving).

---

I got my VIN in mid August/Early September August and took delivery today. I was scheduled for an October 14th delivery.

---

I'll put some pics on soon, but the Z has a bit of an "orange peel" effect. I'm waiting on my Zaino to do a complete exterior detail (I've never done Zaino before). Once complete I will post tons of photos.

---

Oh, thought others might like this... There is an Atlanta Police officer that lives in the apartment across from me. He loved the Z and said if I ever get any problems to drop his name. Also he said with regards to Radar Detectors (I said I was getting the Passport 8500)... Atlanta Police Officers ONLY USE Laser. He said basically if you hear your Radar Detector's Laser Alarm go off then it is too late--you've been nailed.... BUT he said that the Laser requires a FLAT surface to bounce the laser back... he was searching all over the front end and even the rear and said it would be almost impossible for one to get an accurate Laser reading on a 350Z. He said it is just like a Porsche Carerra--the curves on that vehicle prevent a Laser reading from being accurate/holding up in court.

I think I might just save my money!

Congrats on getting your Z Sammy. I have only seen 1 black Z in Atlanta so far, and that was in the parking lot of Team Nissan the first day I had mine (it's the GM's car). Too bad you missed the Z Club meeting.

It's always nice having the inside connection with the fuzz, but remember there are 7 counties and countless little towns in greater Atlanta, so unless you plan to drive Exclusively in Central Fulton, you might want to reconsider not getting that detector. And while the Atlanta PD may exclusively use Laser, that's not necessarily true about the GHP, Fulton Sheriff's, or all the others (God help you if you get pulled over in Cobb Cty with Fulton plates, they are merciless )

Also good luck with the 20% tint... I hope you knew going in for it that 32% was the legal limit in GA. At least you didn't get the welder's goggles 5% like that one guy...

Congrats Sammy,
I'm glad to hear you got your Z and even early . Definately take some pics. I would love to see the tint job. I, too have ordered a Black Touring and I'm going to tint it also.
I'm also glad to hear the dealer kicked in something extra for ya.

Good point about the other counties.
I will more than likly proceed with the purchase.

I knew the legal was 32%.
Again, I ran it by my friendly neighbor (Atlanta PD).
He said that the majority of cops do not enforce the tint laws unless they have to. Which basically means if you're asking for it--you'll get a violation. Most cops won't issue a ticket for tint infraction unless you are offensive and they're just looking for more reasons to fine you.

Even though the tint is 32% for some cars, SUVs and others are allowed to have less.

Bottom line...everyone, including the police LOVE the car... I think they'll watch out for all of us.

My neighbor (again, Atlanta PD) said if I ever get in trouble to give me a call.

did you get metallic tint or the regular black (smoke) tint? and how did they address the auto window feature? is it a big issue to take the door panels off? i am a little hesitant to have anybody take apart my new car. thanks .

Default Photos...

Chris from Hot Spot Tinting (www.hotspottinting.com) and Executive Clean Car (www.executivecleancar.com) was nice enough to e-mail me some before tint and after tint photos.

The 350Z looks great in general... but when you tint the windows... you are almost speechless.

Regarding the door panels... it only took about 5 minutes per door panel to remove them. The reason they take the door panels off is so when the auto window feature (when you open the door the windows go down about an inch and when you close the door they go back up) occurs there is no way that the tint can get bunched up.

Overall... Hot Spot Tinting is the tint company I have ever used.

You can't go wrong!

(Plus Chris has the "US' fastest 240sx" as featured in May 2001's Sport Compact Car... so if you go to Hot Spot Tinting you can see his work of art!)

And without further hestiation.... I present the photos....

Question

Why does your Touring model have 17" 7 spoke wheels????

Is yours an Automatic transmission??

I didn't even realize that the Touring came with 17" wheels with the auto (I was thinking only Base and Enthus. came with 17" 7 spokes). Just checked Nissan's site -- it says 18" only come with 6 MT's on the Touring model.

Weird!

Car looks great, especially with the tint. It's kinda hard to tell the before and after difference, though, since the before is in the sun with a light-colored background and the after shot is in the shade with a dark-colored background. Maybe some more pics later? Anyway, congrats. Looks super!
