Default The delay continues...

As I drive down San Joaquin Hills drive in Newport Beach CA, I see numerous cargo ships floating in the ocean, awaiting to unload our Zs onto the Port of Los Angeles.

The talks turned for the worse today.
yahoo news article 10/1/02

"The U.S. port dispute hinges on the issue of new technology. Port employers say it is crucial to introduce innovations -- including such prosaic machinery as bar code scanners for cargo tracking -- to maintain competitiveness and keep pace with rising cargo volumes. "

If I were involved in the negotiations, I would have fired all of the union workers already and temporarily hired UPS and construction workers to manage the cranes. Hey I've got a Z at stake here!

news article 10/2/02

"Under the expired contract, full-time longshoremen earn an average salary of $80,000 a year, while the most experienced foremen average $167,000. "

With those salaries I may just drop out of residency and become a long shoresman.. Plus when I'm unloading the Zs it'll be "one for you, two for me, one for you, two for me."
