Motor Trend one-year test verdict
#21
I was just wondering that's all, I'm 16 (almost 17) and my parents bought me an 04 Jetta. He sure is lucky to get a 350Z if he is the same age as me, and if he payed for it or part of it himself, power to him. The only reason I cound't get the Z was because of the insane insurance. I've been told I am pretty much screwed unless you want to dump 8k a year or wait until you're 25. Oh well, I'll keep reading the forums and dreaming! Take Care.

About the tire feathering, Motor Trend reported that they also had the problem, but that it was replaced under warranty. I've had mine for over 15,000 miles now, and the feathering hit me, despite an initial alignment. The tire noise didn't start until about 200 miles ago, and my dealer replaced the front tires under warranty.

The M3's gear box is not even that good, of course we're talking about manual, not semi-auto. Both the 996 and Boxster have good gear boxes, but still inferior to an S2000's. No cars, and I repeat, no other cars have a slicker gear box than an S2000. Period! Not arguable!

(Not to get off on yet another tire feathering thread, but my feathering problems seem to have been solved by a combination of new tires and getting an alignment NOT at the Nissan dealer.)

Z350 interior
Man, sometimes I totaly forget in the 1st. place why I got my Z, it was all about the killer looks and performance and for the price I thouht it was the best deal for your money.
I have a Lemans Sunset with the charcoal interior, great combo colors they complement each other and the dash gauges when they light up, they match with LS.
If there is something cheap about the interior, please someone point it out to me, I `am still looking.
I do have one negative thing to say, I don`t much care for the rear wiper, don`t use it don`t like it.

As for the interior, I like it too but the hard stark surfaces, non flush-fitting nav door, bump from the passenger airbag, hard uncomfortable armrest, and lack of glove compartment in a convenient place kind of bug me compared to my other cars. But I don't really care, I still love the car.
I think Motor Trend gave it a fair and balanced report, overall.

Does anyone know if this is normal for these cars?

I don't know how to diagnose the problem. As far as I know my tranny is ok, but it does grind occasionally. If someone knows exactly what to look for please clue me in!

Cars I've driven with very good gear boxes (besides the S2000):
911; Boxster; 350Z; G35; RX8; STI and EVO; Z4's is not too bad; Acura TL; NSX; and quite a few others, old and new. Those are not in order; they're all very good. M3 is not among them, IMO.
If you have any doubt about an S2000's gear box, go test drive an '04, or I'll let you drive my '03 if you're local.
