Auto insurance rates for the 350Z (NJ especially)
I was wondering what people around the US are paying for their auto insurance for the Nissan 350Z. This car is technically classified a "sports car"...(I'm specifically concerned with rates in NJ- states with one of the highest auto insurance rates in the country)
Please state the name of your policy, what kind of coverage you have (collision/comprehensive/liability or full coverage), how much you pay, and how many other cars are on your policy.
The reason I'm asking is NJ Manufacturers quoted me $1009.00 annually for full coverage on a 2004 Daytona Blue Nissan 350Z. I think that's pretty cheap for a "sports car" and full coverage!! But then again, this is my mom's policy which she has had since the 1970's, and the 350Z will be car #5 on her policy.
My friend has a 2004 Infiniti G35 coupe fully covered with the same NJ Manufacturers insurance company but pays more than double what I was quoted. ($2400.00/year)...but then again they only have two cars on the policy- the G35 and a 2004 Nissan Xterra.
Does anyone know what goes into these rates being calculated?? The funny thing is that I am paying more on my 1998 Toyota Corolla fully covered ($1,570.00/year) but then that's a total of only 4 cars on the policy. Let me know.....peace all

I have a friend who owns a Z and lives in W. Essex...he says he's paying about 1700 every year for full coverage but he's also got a few points on his license and it's his only car. So i don't know what to tell you bout that....except that you people have some FUGLY roads up in that state where a tourist will drive all the way to NYC before he can find a left turn (damn handle turns).
Another friend of mine that lives in Jersey drives an IS300 and pays about 2000 full coverage but he's a younger guy so i guess that might explain it.
good luck, peace

I have Jersey tags, and with State Farm. I pay abour $240/month with full coverage, I have a good student discount, no points, and another car covered. I'm 21.
I'm about to switch to NJ Manufacturers though.

For just my Z, I pay under $500 a year. That's 100/300/100 for liability, $500 deductibles for comp & collision, $25,000 for medpay, plus rental & roadside assistance. This is all through Liberty Mutual. I also have 2 other cars insured with them along with my house. For all 3 vehicles I pay $1300 a year.
Oh yeah, I live in Ohio.

Be careful not to pick the cheapest insurance plan you can find. Pick the BEST one. Those two dont always go together....
Dont get just bet the bare minimum on any of the plans. If you do, then you can be setting up for major bills if a wreck happens. I recommend no less than 50k in liability coverage for property and 100k for medical. Anything less than that is just a risk IMHO. Also be careful about your uninsured motorist coverage. My mom had hers set up so that if her car was totaled and the other person did not have insurance, that she was only covered for like 5k. When putting that up to 25k or so only cost about an extra 3 dollars per 6 months.
That being said, my policy runs me about 1500 a year for everything.
Also you may want to check up on your personal medical coverage if you already have another medical policy through your work or just in general. You could be paying twice for the same coverage.

I pay about $3000/year for my 2004 Z and my 2002 Honda Civic Si. I'm an unmarried (for 5 more weeks!
) 29 year old male, with 2 points. Carrier is AllState NJ. Been with them for almost 7 years, but I don't get the feeling they cut me any kind of break.
I think my Civic is more expensive to insure than the Z, since the prior generation Si's were actually desirable cars that got stolen all the time. Of course, I could leave my 02 Si in Newark with the keys in the ignition and nobody would even step within 10 feet of that fugly little bastard... Great daily hauler and winter car, but I sure pay through the teeth to insure it!

man you jersey guys are getting raped up there.... love the people...but the insurance is ridiculous...5k a year? that's enough to buy a sport bike with...glad i don't live in jersey...nobody knows how to design a road and there's highway robbery going on with the insurance (no pun intended).
Z on my mom's policy, i'm 17, almost 18, good student/driver no tickets and such.... about 4000 a year w/ USAA on my dad's policy like i wanted it it would b more like 3000.... but my mom insists on her policy which is actually less coverage than my dad's for more money... kidna pisses me off.... can't wait till she hands the title over to me in november when i turn 18 so i can go back to my dad's policy
I still don't get
I mean, to me that's like saying a Quest is technically classified as a "mini van."

just bought a z roadster in november.....my insurance through NJM is 1100 a year. I have homeowners through NJM and they give a discount if you have your house and cars insured through them...this might help, try listing your car as a recreation vehicle...cheaper insurance
