Yup! Maybe I should have clarified. Also, its 260 TQ for the rev-ups...not 270. I wasn't sure if you made a typo. The RX-8 is a disgrace...I agree with you.

i used to own an automatic RX8 (x-wife made me get an auto). i didnt like it. the car was boring to drive. there wasnt enough room to put people in the back. believe it or not, u get crammed back there. might as well make the car a 2 seater. now, i drive a yellow 350z roadster and it is the greatest thing i have ever driven. it is a 6 speed as well. its not hard to learn how to drive a stick. just experiment. you can go out and rent a stick shift car and go practice somewhere. the dealership might have time to help you out too. i knew of a car dealership that helped people learn to drive a stick if they really wanted a stick shift car. they were with this girl for 3 hours giving her a hand learning to drive a stick cuz she wanted a stick shift car. it happens

How do you have 900 plus posts but you don't own a Z? No biggy, just struck me as weird.

I don't understand why people don't read the dates of posts or look at the most recent posts. Oh hell...why don't people just read carefully!!

One month ago, picked up a 2006 350z in stick, never driven stick before in my life. Picked it up fast. Granted, I'm still griding a gear sometimes but it's only been a month.. *actually, just how horrible is gear grinding? i find that it happens once every few days.. *

It ranks just below riding the rims on the curb, and just above using the scrapping noise from the nose clip as your indicator of whether or not your parked properly.

Stone cold sober the other night I grinded 2nd (first grind for me in probably 6-8 months), right in front of a beat cop. He did a 180 and followed me all the way home.

Hm.. so is it expected that I would still be grinding gears 3 weeks into driving stick? Or should I be stopping that straight away? I ask because.. well, I don't expect my clutch or transmission to last as long as they should (since im new at this), but will grinding gears really take a whole lot of life off of my parts?

The Z is my first stick and I haven't grided gears! Doesn't sound like you know how to drive stick well. Do you know the basic principles? When does the gear grinding occur? Give us your steps and maybe some of us can troubleshoot what you are doing wrong. And to answer your questions. Yes, you will take life off your parts if you keep driving your car the wrong way.

Well, it only seems to happen when I try to shift fast. I realize that the simple solution is 'dont shift so fast'... I don't know though, what happens is I'll put the clutch ALL THE WAY IN, pull the shifter from first to second, but the shifter gets stuck and doesn't go completely into the second gate, and then I let the clutch out.

I know, I know, I just need to stop driving aggressively for the time being. No worries, it hasn't happened nearly as much as it did during my first week of having the car.

Hi, I'm a new member.

I test-drove the Z for the first time last Thursday. Had been considering the new Volvo C70. Drove that the next day, and was completely under-whelmed. High on luxury content, low on fun to drive factor.

Went back to Nissan, did another test drive, and bought a new '05 (came in to dealer in December) Touring Roadster in Redline over Charcoal leather. LOVE my new car.

The test drive was what sold the car. The salesman hardly had to say a word - fortunately for us both!

By the way, the deal was great too - $33,500 for Touring Roadster with the 18" Chrome wheels, all the mats and kickplates and what not. All options but NAV, in other words.
