Is There still a Markup for Zs in the Bay Area?
I went to Stevens Creek Nissan and they said there's still a markup for the Z coupe($3-4k)?
Has this been the case.? I thought people were paying at most MSRP if not a little above invoice? Any Bay Area owners able to shed some light on this?

Steven's Creek auto dealers in general are off their rockers. They behave as if this were still the height of the dot com boom. FYI, I got my performance Z from Boardwalk in Redwood City for 1k under sticker LAST year when they were still asking over sticker. It didn't take long to negotiate it down and I'm sure I could have saved another few hundred if I had pressed but it wasn't worth the effort.

I just bought my Z Roadster from Capitol Nissan. Paid MSRP, no trade in. I had to settle for 2nd choice in colors, SS instead of SB. Also, I have to wait about a month since the car doesn't arrive until early June.
As far as the price you pay goes it all depends on a number of factors. Of course, model and trim are primary but also the old law of supply and demand comes into play. If there are more cars (model and trim you want) on a dealer's lot than there are buyers then you are in a much better position to negotiate a lower price. If the opposite is the case then it will be more difficult to negotiate. That's why you need to shop around at different dealers. One more thing, remember that price shouldn't be the only factor you consider. Think about customer service both before purchase and after!

Below MSRP in the Bay Area EVEN in the beginning of 2003. Shop around and negotiate... try the Internet sales managers first. They fight pretty fierce for your business (online).

Go to Boardwalk Nissan in Redwood City I got my 04 black track in March for 2K under MSRP. Ask for Bill Rice (sales Manager) or Adam Locke ( fleet Manager) Tell them the guy with the Black Track with side airbag issue sent you. <-- say this to them. (they will remember me since I've been dealing with them for the Past 3 months) Just remember all car sales people are Shady, they just want $$$ be firm on your offer but not rude. I found it real simple to deal with these guys. I closed this deal in 20 min. Good luck and let me know what happens.

when I was shopping around for a Z roadster, back in November/December 2003, I went to Capitol Nissan, as I bought a Maxima from them back in early 2000 for $150 over invoice. I spoke with the Sales Mgr there, and was told that when I was ready to buy the car (they did not have any 2004.5 models then) I should give him a call, as he was probably able to give me a Touring Roadster for about $1000 below MSRP (that's what he said, but who knows if he was just baiting me). I then went to Stevens Creek Nissan, and those clowns there told me that there was no way I was going to be able to get a new Roadster for less than $3000 over MSRP anywhere in the Bay Area. Needless to say, I told them to go eat a falafel (if you've been in there, you know what I'm talking about). As it turned out, I ended up buying the car at Ellis Brooks Nissan in the AIDS Incubation Center (San Francisco). I was able to conclude the deal over the phone with their Sales Manager (can't remeber his name at the moment), and paid $1000 over invoice for a SB Touring Roadster.

Go to McKevitt Nissan in Berkeley or to Magnussen's Nissan in Newark. Both dealership are straight up and won't try to rip you off or pressure you. Know what you want and negotiate with them professionally and you'll get a good deal.

The best deal (for me, 2 months ago)
I got my '04 roadster tour from Seramonte Nissan 38,500 out to door. I have add lojack, 7/70000 warranty and maintanance+ plus-gold prefered for 75K. Out to door ~42K (w/o pressure I add them). They are eager to move cars. Try internet (or fleet) connection. I do not know their service performance (only 2K miles here).

The Capitol guys were definitely baiting you. And the Stevens Creek guys tend to be fairly arrogant. Serramonte's not bad; they've got good salespeople, which potentially means that they could sweet talk you into paying slightly higher. But at no point would Serramonte treat you as if you were born yesterday. At least, that's been what I've heard.

I bought my car at Stevens Creek Nissan in March. Right when I got there they had just taken it off the truck. There was a couple ahead of me and they walked because the dealer wouldn't sell it to them at invoice. They had a $3,000 markup on it but they immediately dropped it when I talked to the sales man and I got the car for like $27,000 with options (base model).

Dirito Bros in Walnut Creek has never had any markup, even in Nov 2002 when I picked up my car. Stay away from Concord Nissan--they must be related to Stevens Creek...arrogant and greedy.
