Video Questions
I bought a Mini DV camcorder and i was wondering how i would transfer my videos to my computer so i can post them. Can anyone help me out? Thanks.

Well, first off, you need a firewire connection. This could be in the form of a card or it can be integrated into the motherboard. If you have this connection, and cable obviously, you just open your video editing program (for ease I use Windows MovieMaker) and "capture" the video to your hard drive. All you need to do is start the video, hit the capture button and it'll download to your computer.
You need to either have
1. A capturing device ( PCI or USB device with video inputs)
2. Firewire input on your computer (a lot of Sony's have this).
You also need software (adobe's or Sonic Foundry Vegas Studio) to capture the video once it's connected to your computer.
From there you need to add some compression so the video is not huge. I believe the video is captured in .avi format in Sonic Foundry. From there, you can convert it to an .mpg by using AVI2MPG.
ps: Make sure your codecs are up to date before doing any video work. Do your windows updates too
