Whoa, I wish I had the income you have that a piece of plastic costing $350 isn't expensive!
But as for the replica idea, I was under that impression that they are not illegal, provided that they are *slightly* different from the origional part. This can be accomplished by changing a curve my a fraction of an inch or something of the like. For example, aftermarket replacement equipment, such as taillights, never fit 100% as well as factory stuff. This being because they are not allowed to be, in fact, exact copies.

actually it's not $350, you can buy one for $255, so why buy replica? if you buy cheap replica, be prepare to pay more $$$ to get it good enough to paint.
