Default Some basic questions - need advise

My first post, hey all! I....I read the whole post about the twins already and thought it was one of the funniest things I have ever seen on a board...anyway...back to the topic....

I have a 03 spec v that I am thinking about trading in and getting a 350. I started to entertain the idea when I bought my spec but decided not to because of financial reasons. Now I kind of regret my decision. I love my spec but I have always wanted a true sports car and I am finally at the point where I can truly afford one....I keep babbling, sorry I'll get to the point.

I was looking at the different trim levels of the z and want to know a few things...

1. Does the traction control work/worth the money? I really want to keep the purchase price as close to 30k as possible.

2. I like the idea of 18's on the car. Are 18's an option for the base or lower trim levels? My sentra has 17's on it and I can’t bare the thought of having 17's on a sports car when I have 17 on my sentra. It doesnt appear to be an option on nissans website.

The bottom line....I guess I am really thinking about going w/the performance or enthusiast package levels but want to know if its worth the cash? Maybe just base level? What do you all think? Thanks for any help in advance!

In my opinion it all depends on what you're looking for. You're obviously aware that the only difference between base and Track are options, but the engine/trans are the same. Just make sure you get the model you want, if not you'll regret it later.

Seems to work OK for me. Haven't had any problems so far.

I don't believe 18's on a Base or Enthusiast are an option. Besides, you probably wouldn't want to buy optional 18" wheels from the dealer because they'll rape you big time on the price of them. For the same amount of money, there are a lot of nice aftermarket wheels you can get.

The bottom line....I guess I am really thinking about going w/the performance or enthusiast package levels but want to know if its worth the cash? Maybe just base level? What do you all think? Thanks for any help in advance!
If you're planning to mod the car a lot, then a Base is sufficient. But stepping up to an Enthusiast will get you traction control, HID headlights, limited slip differential, and a few other things that are well worth the difference in price.

Sounds like you want the Performance. You should be able to get one for 30Gs (before tax, license) with some bargaining.

Id go for an Enthusiest... get some new wheels, and some other goodies...

if you do not plan on modding the car at all... go for the track...

The dealer seems to want to rape you on everything. I like how they will add things like aftermarket wheels while making you paying full retail and keep the stock wheels...I've seen that on a couple dealer's cars already...

I probably won’t mod the car too much. (Besides the stereo Just planning an intake, pulley, and headers I guess. Maybe some other stuff but I need to get the car first

Sounds like a plan. I ill go for enthusiast at least. The track model is a little too pricy for me.

it has everything the track model has except the rays' wheels and brembo's... and you dont want VDC you will turn it off all the time any way...
get your self some stop tech brakes and the nismo LMGT4's and you have a car about the same price as the track model but much better brakes and rims... add the NISMO Diff and you have a much better LSD..

Reason I suggested the Performance is the 18 inchers which you said you wanted. Plus the TPS really helps ya keep track of tire pressure.

Of course you can add 18's to the Enthusiast but after doing so you will be very close to the price of the Performance.

Also, given you live in snow/ice country you might find the VDC useful for winter driving.

You bring up a good point. I was thinking of going with the enthusiast package and buying aftermarket 18's. I could use the 17" rims for snow tires but VDS might be helpful in the snow. I'll have to way it out a bit more I guess....
