Angry Cracked Windshield

The bad news. I'm traveling down the interstate yesterday and played chicken with a rock. It hit my windshield in the black dot portion and I didn't pay any attention to it after that. Well, when I woke up this morning to run some errands, I looked up and I had about a 10" crack running down my windshield. I was thinking to my self "I just picked my car up last Tuesday and I already have a crack." So after I finish cursing the rock that I loss the game of chicken with I went to the local windshield repair shop. Well they told me all they do is replace windshields, they don't repair cracks.

The good news is that they gave me a card of a certified individual that does repair them. So I call the guy up, he comes out to the house, does his thing and presto, the windshield is as good as new. So now my baby has a very small scar that you can't even see unless I pointed it out to you. I also just dropped it off at the stereo shop for some much needed upgrades.

They didn't replace it, he said they sent him to another guy who repaired his existing windshield for him.

Read it again. I think since he referred to a scar, it was repaired not replaced.

Yes, it was sealed with some type of liquid and it was good as new. I just picked it up from the stereo shop and that damn thing sounds good. I added 2 amps and a 12" sub and trust me, it made all the difference in the world.

I got the base model and I must say I was a little upset that I didn't upgrade to atleast the enthusiast. But once they delivered it, I was happier than a pig in slop I like to drive fast, but I'm not the type to be out there racing, so I didn't think I needed all that other stuff that came with the higher models. So to all the base models out there, keep representing.

It cost me $64 to repair my windshield and since I already had my equipment from my previous ride, I paid for just the installation which was about $250. I know it sounds like a lot but I have 2 things going against me. I know absolutely nothing about hooking up car audio and I have very little time in my day to take on a project like that. So I personally feel it was worth it, especially since it sounds so nice.

State law in Florida requires all insurance companies to replace a cracked windshield at no cost to the insured. No questions asked.

I have a MTX4244 for the front speakers and a MTX6500 on the sub. I'm running a single 12" Audiobahn sub for now and like I said before, it sounds excellent. Maybe next summer, I'll upgrade my entire stereo system, but what I have will do for now.
