planning financing for a Z!
well not quite yet im not getting one but i gotta plan first. so if anyone can help me that'd be great.
This is all hypothetical #s and prices that im hoping to get:
This is for a BASE 350z.. and i don't really care for any of the options. it would be nice but not a necessity. so....
BASE 350z
Price: 1000-1500 off MSPR? about 25,000-25000 before taxes
APR: 3.99% with a good credit score of 700 something
Downpayment: $6000-6200
Monthly goal: under 400/month or even 400/month is good
i used this to calculate the monthly and all that but im not so sure it's too accurate.
http://www.auto-loan-calculator.bz/a...an-calculator/
so then you guys tell me if the #'s above that are hypothetical are realistic. cause i dont' want to be saving and find out in the middle of august (goal to buy) that i gotta save up more. cause DAMN i want the Z!
basic gist: base 350z, about 25000 able to pay about 400 monthly? thanks in advanced

i got screwed on my financing i had to have the car right then and the bank rate was 7.2! at that time the Z's were brand new and the nissan financing was high as hell too. any way i paid 500 over sticker(im telling you i got mine in fall of 2002!) for a touring so it was like $35.5k total
i financed 12,600 for 72 months(not that im even gonna have my Z then ...(GT-R)
i pay about $216 a month
as regards to your situation 400+ for a base Z would be a little steep for me. have you thought of a slightly used one? there are some pretty good ones out there for reasonalbr prices ...that way you could get some options. becuase i think right now you would be happy just to have a Z but maybe once you get it you might wished you would have got some options. i mean you cant go with out HID lamps or drilled pedals!
good luck with what you decide keep us posted

Well, I can tell you for my $29,500 Enthusiast, I put down $7K and I pay $322/month, but I leased it for 3 years. If I had bought it on a 60 month term, the payments would have been about the same. If you finance $19,000 or so, I think you could get closer to $350 for your payment.
I'm not sure if you will be able to get a Base for $25K out the door. Invoice according to Edmunds.com is about $24,500. You might be closer to $25,500 out the door, and in California maybe as much as $26.
Let me also say that with the Z, you don't want to cut yourself too close on funds. Here are a few things that will really hit your wallet.
1. Gas - Gotta buy the good stuff, and it's not getting any cheaper.
2. Insurance - I'm not sure how old your are or how your driving record is, but expect to pay around $100/month for insurance. Sometimes more sometimes less, but it makes a nice number for figuring out if you can afford this friggin awesome car.
3. Mods - You'll probably want something, so you'll need to budget a bit for that.
4. Track days - This is where your Z shines, so you'll probably want to spend a few hundred every few months or so on hittingthe track for a day. Track, Helmet, Gas, Tires, brakes all cost $$.
5. Tires and Brakes - Depending on how you drive and how much you track your car, you will wear both of these things out. $200 a tire (if not more) and I think around $200 for a complete set of brakes.
6. Condoms - If you have the Z you'l need some of these. Buy in bulk and save some $$
7. Cleaning supplies - I can't tell you hom much I've spent on cleaning stuff, but it's probably around $10-20 a month maybe.
Anyway, think hard and watch your money closly when getting the Z. If you get the Z and can't afford to own it, it's a real bummer. Me personally, I don't like a car payment higher than $350/month. By the time you add insurance, you are looking at $450-500 a month for the Z. For most folks, this is a good bit of money. I'm not trying to scare you, I'm just tyring to make you thin of all the other stuff you gotta have.
Hope this helps!

depending on your credit score you might get a score between 9+% - 3.99%. But remember the more you put down the less you pay and believe it or not it does help out if your Financing. I don't think that a lease is a good idea unless you don't plan on putting zero down. At the end of the lease you end up with nothing, plus you can't mod it. Lease is for someone who plans on getting rid of their car in 3 years.
I know my score was aroung 690 or something like that but I only got a 5.29%, but I did give $9,000 down. I bought a Performance Model. and paid 32,900 out the door. My payments are $440. Not bad for a first time buy at age 21, my mom had cosigned me for my other car. I did everything myself this time.

Leasing is almost never a good idea. If you are not sure if you should lease or buy, then BUY! I did a ton of research on leasing, and leasing seems like the best course of action for me.
1. Low monthly payment, short term so I can buy something else or do another lease and don't have to wait 48-60 months to change my plans.
2. No worries about major repairs (term of my lease is 3 yrs, same length of warrenty).
3. I plan on getting something new and cool in 3 years (Hopefully a GT-R!)
4. I don't plan on mods besides maybe rims/tires which can easily be returned to stock
5. I can drive the #$%^&*( out of this car. I don't have to make sure the engine lasts for 100K + miles. It's only gotta last for 36K miles. Note to everyone: Buying a Used Z might not be the best idea. I just go and get my cheap oil change at the dealer with whatever cheap oil and filter they put it and that's about it. I'll probably have to put a set of tires on it at some point, but other than that I shoudl not incur too many more costs.
If you think leasing is a good idea because it's cheaper, it is NOT! At the end of the lease, you haev nothing or you have a car that you paid WAY too much for. If I were to purchase my Z at the end of the lease, I think I'll pay a total for $35-36K for my $29,500 Enthusiast!
Leasing is almost always a bad thing guys, but I love my lease

You shouldn't buy or lease a car you can't afford. That's the bottom line. Unfortunately many people don't know what they can afford or delude themselves into thinking that they can cut expenses here or there to fit a certain car into their budget. These are the people who get into trouble (financially) and wind up losing their car to the repo man. I would never finance a car where the monthly payment is a figure that would cause me to have to start doing that kind of calculating.
PS: I'm 61 and just bought a Z Roadster. This is the first car that I have paid cash for. A very nice feeling and one I hope you don't have to wait as long for.
