Default Just Had Katzkin Leather Installed

It looks and feels great, better than OEM leather. Anyone who thinks this aftermarket leather looks or feels like plastic, is on crack.

I have a Chrome Silver Enthusiast. I got solid black leather, with perforations on the center part of the seat, to match the carpeting. The seat seems a lot more comfortable than the cloth was. I highly recommend getting the leather from Katzskin. Just make sure you go to a good installer.

Sunrise Auto Upholstery in Lynbrook. The owner Tommy is a good guy. I just wish I had know about your place in Lindenhurst, as it would have been a lot closer. I live in Massapequa.

I'll try to take some tonight, but I have trouble posting pics from my digital camera. The resolution is too high. I'm not sure how to change it.

It was $900. That included installation and shipping from California. The Nissan dealer quoted me a price of $1200, those thieving bastards. You might get a better price if you buy the leather kit yourself, directly from Katzskin.

All in all, I think the leather is worth it. I wanted leather in my Z, but I didn't want to pay all the extra $$ for the Touring, as I didn't want the Navigation system or the Bose. I also liked the stock Enthusiast rims better than the Touring rims. For me it was a no brainer.

If you have the patience, time, and are decently handy you can install the Katzkins by yourself. Just expect to take the whole day and maybe into a second day in order to do a good job. My friend and I did his 3rd Gen Eclipse and they came out really nice. Saved a bunch of money for him doing it ourselves. All you need is the right tools to get the seats out, hog rings, and the crimping tool. Good choice on the Katzkins.

There are lots of resizing programs out there, but I have been using Irfanview for about 1.5 years and it works great. Plus it's easy to use and it's free!

Now post those pictures!

Here's the website.

http://www.leatherseats.com/

You or your installer has to take out your stock seats. They then take off the facotry cloth covers and then replace with the leather. The process isn't complicated, just takes some hard work and patience to secure the leather on to the seat with a professional look.

I guess our seats are similiar to one of the other Nissan vehicles since I don't see a product for the 350Z. Which car would it be? Thanks again...

No, they definitely have seats specific to the 350Z. when you click the "Katzkin" link in my first post, just click on the yellow button that says "Autoleathers.com" and it will take you to the site to design your seats as well as give you a price.

FYI, I had my installer call and order the seat covers and it ended up costing me a total of $720 (installed) and that included a couple of extras like two headrests, perforations, red stitching, etc. Installers do get a discount when purchasing through them.

Also, in my case (and I assume everyone elses) it took my seats about a week to settle and stretch out a couple of the wrinkles. Don't be that worried if you see a couple immediately after the installation because they should go away.

any "puffiness" on your seats? what does a good installer do that a bad one doesn't to prevent this ''puffy/wrinkly'' look?

I have had dark-graphite Katzkins in my chrome silver for a year now and they look and feel great. Recommended highly.

What two-tone color combinations would you guys recommend for a Brickyard? Black and Silver?

Anyone2U, who did your install, I was just at one place yesterday and they quoted me 999 installed, that's a far cry from 720...

Yeah, I wanted either dark graphite or black, but I went with black.

You're in the Boston area and you haven't been to any of the local meets? What's up with that Rick!

OK, it was Royal Auto located at 5181 Washington Street in West Roxbury just over the Dedham line. 617-325-8826. The guys name is George and he is a really great guy. He has been working in upholstery for about 25 years and has done quite a few Ferraris, Porsches and even a gullwing Mercedes.

He gave me a really good deal because it was the first 350Z he had ever seen (I had the seats done in October of 2002) and he knew my car was going to get some exposure (the car is sponsored by Boston Acoustics and was at SEMA). I can't guarantee he will be able to match that price, but he will definitely beat $999! Good luck and I'll see you at the next local meet!
