Question Why all the Whining About the NAV Door??

I got my Z and am confused as to why most everyone is so upset about the operation of the NAV door. Mine works very well as long as you operate it the way they tell you too, by pulling it out and flipping it down. The only problem I have is that when it's closed, the top of it doesn't quite fit flush with the dash. I assume you get the same door whether you have NAV or not, which I do.

I don't have the NAV but the same door, and I agree with you I think it is fine, people actually think it is cool the way it goes up after pushing the button, plus it is not something you keep using all of the time I usually open it when I get in to pu things in and then close it when I park so nobody can see in, the part I am enjoying the most is the driving in between.

It's not as cheap as i thought it was...

But I don't like the hard plastic texture.... it scratches easily. I learned it the hard way.

This is probably not news to anyone, but it took me about a week to realize there's actually a space and a "lip" on the left and right sides of the door (underneath) to put your fingers in to pull the door out. Before, I was just "pinching" the middle of the door with my fingers to pull it out. If this helps one person, then my job is done.

Um, Victor. Don't tell me you put a turbo timer on your car. It can't possibly need the same cooling down regiment as a turbo engine does. Thats overkill. Im asuming that you know the purpose of a turbo timer is so that the oil inside the turbo can cool down along with the actualy turbo itself. I am pretty sure you that you can run the car hard and turn it off and suffer no problems. But hey, I could be wrong. Or, you could be joking. And on the premise that you do have a turbo timer, lets see a picture of the install.

No problem with NAV door or NAV here. Don't know what people are thinking about when they say cheap and flimsy. To me it appears to be quality and sturdy. Just what are these reviewers comparing it to?

If you think it's cheap, go look at the nav/radio door on a new Lincoln Navigator. That one is real flimsy and doesn't work well. And that's on a $61,000 vehicle!

The nav door is fine, you just have to know how to close it (pull straight out and then close by flipping down). I imagine that if you didn't close it right and tried fighting with the door and moving it in ways it was not designed to move, it might appear "flimsy". But the car was delivered with a sticker on the nav door explaining how to close it for those not mechanically inclined (for me, it was intuitive how to close it by watching it open, but some people do not think that way).
