I admit this is a cool story & does sound like what most of us would like to see happen.

On the other hand, the bud now has some legal problems at the least. And thank God, the cobra guy did not have a piece.

Bottom line: no damage was done to the car; ya got to just walk away if you can. Even if damage was done by the bottle, take a plate number & report it to the cops. Between legal issues and street guns, the first response has to be to get out of the situation if you can.

Like others have stated, this guy deserved a butt kicking, but the legal realities of what happened are probably going to end up kicking the butt of this guys friend.

If the cobra guys goes to a lawyer, you're looking at several times his medical bills in a lawsuit (not to mention punative if things go worse).

This little race gone bad could cost your friend upwards of 15k or more and thats just on the civil side of the law....

I bet the cobra guy will probably try to say that he just tossed out some trash out his window and wasnt paying attention to who was behind him....

I wish your friend the best. Too bad the officer couldnt be turning the other way for just a minute or two.....

I think the alcohol got the best of that guy....He took too much "courage juice". Just blame it on him being DUI and your friend shouln't get in that much of a trouble. It's just too bad that the cops seen the whole thing or everybody would have gotten what they deserved. I would have probably done the samething in your situation. It was just bad luck that cops saw everything. Hope everything turns out alright!

He was able to talk to his lawyer today. The lawyer said that since this is not his first assult charge he could be looking at a very stiff fine, he said that the only hope would be to offer to pay this guy off and settle out of court, could be around twenty, he has not seen any of the medical bills yet though.

I hope the scum cobra guy doesnt go get his own lawyer. If he does then he could start racking up all kinds of medical bills in order to inflate the pain and suffering portion....

Severe neck pain comes to mind....Hard to prove, easy to fake, and costly to treat.

Good news to hear about the Z not being hurt and it's a good thing that the guy in the cobra got his DUI. But I would hate to see your friend get kicked off of the U of I football team over this situation.

Just trolling here, don't mind me, here is my thought:

This entire situation could have been avoided, I believe (or atleast attempted), if you had not acknowledged, nor raced the kid in the first place.

I don't think there is anything cool about beating the hell out of some guy, and it's not retribution, this one incident will not mean crap in your life, and now your friend has real problems.

I have been there, and it aint a cool thing. Time to grow up and stay away from stupid siutations.

I should have said former football player.

mjg,
Like I said I dont usually race, it was late at night, no one out and I did not get it up that fast. 100% safe. It is retribution, the guy had no right to throw anything at my car. The only bad thing here is that he got cought.
