I financed mine at a decent rate, but decided to pay it off early. Financing cars isn't all that smart, but I still do it

Paid cash for mine a few years ago. Loans should only apply to neccesities such as school, house, or something for your business. Z is a toy.

A bit of an over generalization. Great that you could pay cash for your car, but to say your should never get a loan for a car is silly.

The Z is my daily driver, so it's not a toy for me.

Just picked up my 04 Z last month and paid cash for it. It feels good having no monthly payments.

3 years left on mine, however another deployment is coming up so it'll probably paid off during that trip overseas

Right now I owe 15K. My financing is $375 a month for 60 months but I paid $450 a month last year. This year I am paying $500 a month or more if possible. I hope to have the car paid off by summer 2011.

That was the most ignorant comment I've seen thus far on this thread. (OK, I only read the last page)

I wonder how many people on here have lied and said they paid cash for their car. Not to say that this ^ guy ^ lied. That was just a second thought I was having.

I owe about $8000.

Actually I did pay cash for the car. It was 2 yrs or so old when I bought it. It was not very much $$$$. I spent 8 yrs after I got my undergrad degree to reach where I am in my chosen profession and now at 40 I do not think 20 something K is a lot to spend!!

Lucky for me my new wife has spent 9 yrs after her undergrad degree. Now she on the other hand loves medicine with a passion!!!! We also paid cash for our new home!!!!! it was a million $$$$....

Everyone here is at a different stage in life. Some are in HS , some are in College, some are just past College in their early career, others are older. Financing doesn't mean you can't afford it. It just means you haven't saved up cash or don't want to use your savings for it.

It's great that you make so much money, but don't put others down because they're not as financially secure as you.

Edit:

Wait. You paid a million dollars for your house in cash, and you bought a used Z? Interesting.
