Default So, I have a VIN (...4318) - what does this tell me? -

about where my car is and when I can expect to receive it? I received my VIN by calling NNA at 800-nissan1. Does its presence in NNAs database indicate that the car is already in the USA? Or....????
Thanks,
Mika

It means that your Z has been fully assembled and has rolled off the assembly/production line. It's now just a matter of getting it shipped from Japan (it may already be on its way), arriving at a US port and transported to your dealership.

Anytime now; be patient, and congratulations.

It means that the Z has boarded a ship on it's way here - that's all Your delivery date is determinant upon how long the VIN has been in NNA's system. I got my VIN the day it went into the system and it took my car 5 weeks after I got the VIN. Others have received their VIN a week before. What's your ETA?

Thanks for the responses.
My dealer tells me ETA is end of October, or no later than the 1st week of November. I was originally told December...
So, I don't know what to believe anymore...

our VINs are really close...mine ends: 4357.

Got it last week and the dealer showed 11/5/2002 as the est. del day. Sounds reasonable.

I'm guessing yours could very well be in Oct since you're in CA...seems that CA people get em pretty fast.

Good luck!

It also depends on which coast it is going to. I am in the same "boat" you are... end of October with VIN. However, mine is coming to the West coast where the strike is happening.

My vin is 36xx and the ETA is 10/28. My dealer told me that the car had already been unloaded from the boat, so the strike should not affect its delivery....not sure if I believe that.

Are the last 4 digits of the vin an indication of exactly where in the production your car fell. If I have 1766, was it the 1766th car produced?

I got a VIN of 4173 and was told mid-November...

Rob,

I don't believe the VIN directly corresponds to your vehicle's spot in the production line, as I think they bunch models together during production; i.e. 100 Touring, then 100 Performance, etc. Not sure about this, though...
