Default redline Z

I want to trade in my accord for a z but I'm kind of picky with what I want. I already know I want the enthusiast edition, 5spd at (yes automatic beacuse I hate to commute on the freeway with a stick, I have doen it for too long) in redline red. The problem is none of the dealerships in so cali ever have that model in that color in there inventory, at least not that I have seen. So I figured I would request them to order one from the factory. Is that hard to do? Is it harder to bargain on the car because of the fact that I am ordering it? And If I leave a deposit for the car how do I know that the deal is going to be the same when the car actually arrives? What if they change it at the end? I already gave them a deposit so I am screwed right? ANd what if they screw me on the value of my trade in? What should I do?

hahaha I dont think anyone answered because there are just too many damn questions ahah but I'll try to answer them as best as I can because its halftime.

1. No it is not hard to order from the factory, but you have to be patient because they only ship in fixed intervals.

2. No it is not harder to bargain for a Z from the factory, but you probably wont get as good a deal as you would if it were on the lot. Try calling dealerships around, trust me its probably just a mission away.

3. How do you know that the car is going to be the same one as you ordered? Because you order a specific car. If they were just going to say they ordered it and then give you another car then you dont have to take it. Matter a fact you could just get your deposit back and tell them tough ****.

4. Refer to answer 3

5. Refer to answer 4

6. Who says you have to trade it in with them? You will get less money from a dealership then you would from a private sale, the trade off is you dont have to wait for a buyer with a dealership. What do you do? Take the hit from them, or try to sell it and get maybe a G more.

Thats it, the games on and im out. hope it helped

Thank you Pusha_Z for responding. My third question was how do I know the deal we negotiated on the car is going to be the same. What if they decide to jack up the price when the car get's in. I guess I just get my deposit back then right? Thank you once again for all of your guys help and suggestions.

When you go order the car, you should do all of the price negotiations up-front. Why should they go to the trouble to order a car for someone who isn't serious enough take the time to work out the actual cost. Negotiate up-front, agree on a price, and the dealership is bound to the agreed upon amount.

It's called signing a contract. Like kcobean said, you do all the negotiation up front, write down in the contract the important items. That means the negotiated price, color, options, no stickers of the dealer on the car, maximum mileage you would accept, etc. You get the idea. Go with a reputable dealer. If you worry, put a clause in the contract to make the whole deal subject to your final test drive when the car comes in. If you are still unsure, find a dealer who has one on the lot (e.g. Vegas suggested by Nforce1) and drive it away. In that case, WYSIWYG.

I ordered mine the same way instead of taking one from the lot. The hard part is to wait about 2 months for it to come in, knowing I could be driving one right away. Good luck.

Ive seen alot in Huntington Beach, Nissan Delaer ff the 5 in Dana Point, and good old universal Nissan in Universal city.

I Suggest calling around.

No need to wait forever for an order car.

Go to the NissanUSA website and use the dealer search on a daily basis. It took 2 weeks for mine to popup. I had to drive 120 miles but it was worth it figuring the next nearest was in AZ. Good luck!

Most dealers have an internet sales mgr and you can do all the negotiations over the internet if you want. I did it that way and it was no problem.

But I have a trade in that they will probably need to see before they can make an offer right? Don't they have to have someone at the dealership appraise it?

I called them and had all my questions answered over the phone before showing up. The dealership I went to was a "no haggle" one. They offered $1000 off MSRP for all Z's, which was fine with me. Any extras I wanted they told me the price streight up over the phone. They didn't even add the normal Nissan "protection package" crap like most do. I knew exactly what I was getting and spending before I even left the driveway.

Trade-in they will have to see in person. There's no getting around it. Check the trade in value on KBB.com before going. My dealer gave me $1,000 less than what KBB said which was fine by me given the condion I knew it was in. I knew of problems that the dealer won't figure out till later....so hey! Who's the sucker now? LOL.
Trade in's eliminate the risk of some pissed off person showing up at your door wanting their money back cause the car you just sold them died and left them on the highway in traffic. Most say trade ins are a bad deal. I think they are great. It might take a few dollars out of your pocket, but I just consider it "insurance".
