NISMO Exhaust - How to reduce loudness
the most sound comes from changing or removing the cats. but if you want to keep the cats, and you want the exhaust quieter, change it back to stock. since you will be recovering noticable torque that was lost to the aftermarket system, you can chalk the whole thing up as a bigtime performance mod.

BTW everyone, the exhaust was removed from the car as soon as I test drove it. The HF CATs are barely noticeable with the stock exhaust. My opinion is that at half the price, you get the same performance improvements with high-flow cats. But, no one will be able to tell that you've modded your car. Some people want to do cat-backs, some people want the loudest car on the street (headers, cats, exhaust). I'm not saying what's right.
If I can't get a solid offer for the exhaust, I'll think about getting it butchered to tone it down some. So my goal was to find out if this would work, since there's no going back once you break out the hacksaw.
Based on dyno results, the NISMO catback exhaust was one of few (or maybe the only one) that did not lose low end torque! I agree it is not enough to be noticeable if you remove it, but it is definitely NOT hampering you performance.

In my case, I just bought the Borla Cat back and I am very disappointed, it is almost like the stock one. Do you think if I replace my cat it would do a big difference. I want a loud sound.
Do you know good aftermarket cats?

The CATs will definitely make it louder. People say that the RT cats are louder, and that they have collapsed on some cars. I highly recommend the Crawford CATs, but I had to modify one of them to fit my FX35. The stock cats are cylindrical, but Crawfords are sort of rectangularly shaped. The LEFT cat's heat shield would touch the car under moderate acceleration due to the engine torqueing. I even tried a torque strap. So I ended up removing the heat shield. This may not happen for you, but it's no big deal if it does.
Installing the CATs are MUCH easier than I could have imagined. It is no more difficult that installing the catback exhaust. All you need is a 14mm socket, a socket elbow (universal joint), and then about 30 inches of extensions so you can reach the bolts from above the engine. Removing the intake tube helps, but is not necessary. It does take two people though.
have you thought about the KINETIX RACING Highflow cats. they have In-Line Resonators to reduce the sound a little bit but still keep the performance up

i have heard that the crawford cats with a borla are really loud, but most of the people that have the kinetix cats with it don't seem to have any problems and it's just a little louder. but not extreamly loud.

I have the Kinetix cats and I LOVE THEM!!
At idle, the car has a little bit of a burble. Driving, you can hear them a little, maybe 10% louder than stock, not much at all, but definitely different.
Then at WOT, they just LET LOOSE, the burble goes to a "BRRAAAPPP"-- fairly loud- not fartcan, not horrendously loud, but very noticible. I love it-- its the stock exhaust on steroids!
Oh, yeah- I have the cats running thru the stock exhaust--- I am very pleased!!!

Hmm.. I dont' know exactly which type of cat I have-- the one with a group deal in March/April along with their plenum- just a HF cat, I thought.
I don't know if I can say the sound is "as deep and as loud as possible"----
I think it is definitely louder and burbles more-- Which I personally like a lot!!
