Default Interfreezer??

Check out this funky new intake mod. It's called the "Interfreezer" from Cryofuzion. Uses CO2 to flow through ducts in a metal expansion chamber so to speak, thereby cooling the metal casing and internal passages. Ambient air passes through it and cools down, similar to an intercooler.

Looks like it might restrict airflow.

Interfreezer

..my mistake

This is the same effect as nos has... By cooling the air, the air becomes more dense - meaning for a givin parcel of air, there is a certain amount of oxygen in it.

The cooler the air, the more dense it becomes. NOS in effect does the same thing. Nitrous oxide also increases the air density per given parcel, which creates power.

Does this have anything to do with Density Altitude?/

When they say they have that CO2 sprayer on the side of the bumper, is it the same thing as when the Skyline comes in at the first race in 2F2F spraying stuff around?

This isn't exactly the case. While N2O does cool the intake air slightly, the majority of the added power that it gives you comes from the extra oxygen that it adds to the air when it splits apart. This mod will probably show some good low end gains and will likely add a few horsepower up top as well. Seems like a good deal if it performs as well as they say it will.

This is not like N2O all the time. Nitrous is 33% oxygen, whereas regular atmosphere has like 8% oxygen. Yes Nitrous increases air density by decreasing temperature, allowing more oxygen to fit into the same area, but Nitrous actually adds quite a bit of oxygen to the mix also, which is it's main power adder.

Edit: poorcollegekid beat me too it.

this mod may give you some hp on a dyno...like 15 to 20 hp but on the street it's not gonna do much. any mod that cools down your car on a dyno works because the air blowing on your car is not moving as if you were traveling at 60 to 100 mph. it's probally just like the nx intercooler spray that does nothing on the road but works on a dyno.

Not only that... but the weight of the co2 bottle would negate any slight gains......

The statement that gets me is the "165º colder than an intercooler". Seems like that would make the incoming air about -65º". Wouldn't you have a hard time getting the fuel to vaporize and burn efficiently at that temperature?

the funny thing about that is that is that there is a fuek block with the fuel to chill that too.....

Seems that this would be best applied in small amounts, on top of an intercooler, since it deals with compressed atmospheric air, which heats up. Spraying CO2 would be similar to water spray, but more efficient (read: less quantity required, if spraying itself is efficient). Likewise, spraying the radiator might help keep coolant temp down, but is not as efficient as intercooler cooldown.

Now, what about this?

Isn't that similar?

no, that was a nitrus purge, which does nothing besides waste NOS. that CO2 purge valve is for shooting CO2 into your oppenents intake when driving, therefore slowing thier car down. more co2 equals less o2, so they are taking in less oxygen, and lose some hp.

very, very tricky and wrong . try it in a street race, not on the track, because you likely would be banned from the track if you tried it

If this actually worked, then wouldn't I being seeing a 20 to 30 hp difference between a cold winter day and a warm summer day?
