Default Faster than a Z?

I was just curious, In your guys opinion, What percentage of cars in the states do you feel are faster than the z. Cars you see during your daily driving. I feel its probably only 10 to 20. every time i drive most cars i see dont stand up to the Z.

There's many that are faster than the Z... but many many MANY more that aren't. As for the SRT-4 being faster, some think it's questionable but I think the Z is still a little quicker.

Huh? 325Ci, 330Ci, Z3 3.0L, Z4, not faster. The only beemers I can think of that ARE faster are the Z8 or an M series. And how often does anyone even seen a Z8? I don`t even think they make them anymore.

the srt-4 is not faster than the z, stock for stock. and the percentage of cars that are faster than the z is very low (10-20%) depending on where you live. and even for those cars that are faster, unless they are uber expensive cars they generally don't have the looks of the z. but i've always seen the z as a compromise between performance and style. it's not the fastest car out their, nor the best looking. however, it does both of these things better than 95% of the cars that are in the same price range of the z.

from the same price range,
sti>evo8>camaro z28>trans am>mustang svt>str-4>Z>s2000>wrx>rx8>rsx-s..... etc...so i can say Z is not the fastest car in that price range but it has the BEST No,1 appreance from those...^^

Now we have two people on this thread with the SRT over the Z.... stock for stock, the Z comes out slightly ahead (driver's skill aside) although the best a stock SRT owner can claim is that the two are pretty much dead even. Now how many SRT owners actually stay stock after purchase....? It doesn't take too much dough to make those faster than the Z...

Good link elbe, but I wonder why was the Touring model tested...?

Altho there are many cars that are faster than the Z, you dont see many of them on the road.

I live in LA, I'd say around 5% of the cars I see on the road will beat the Z in the quarter mile. The reason why it's so low....

1. There's LOTS of beaters on the road
2. A lot of the faster cars are very unbearable to drive on LA roads on a daily basis
3. I'd say half of the cars that are faster than the Z, 99% of the population can not afford.

just my $0.02

Around a REAL track (with turns) the percentage of cars faster than the Z falls even lower

Also, note that most of the cars faster than the Z on that link is a 60s-70s car. Most of them will be lucky they can even finish the quarter mile right now

yea, but almost all of the people on this board have modified z's. granted the mods are probably more cost-effective for the srt-4 and it is cheaper overall, but at days end it's just a suped-up neon while the z is so much more. sure i wish mods were cheaper for a more expensive car, but its almost inherent given the quality of the car that their being put on.

The mentality for most that don't mod is the "I bought a fast car so I don't necessarily have to mod" type of thinking (I'm stock along with many others on this board... comes down to a warranty issue at this point for me though ). Not sure what you were trying to argue there, but I'm definitely against the Neon ride... thus why I bought a Z. I was emphasizing stock for stock that the edge is in favor of the Z... the aesthetics are just a huge bonus to boot Besides the affordability factor, the SRT is a car for those that don't really mind what a car looks like in lieu of power. And with that, those Neons are modded severely (by those that would purchase such things) which ekes out decent gains for which to compete against "nicer" stock cars, e.g. the Z
