Default Build date

I have a quick question.
I was wondering if you can find the build date of the car by the VIN number?
Thanx

Look on the metal tag attached inside the drivers door frame. It has the build date on it. The only thing the VIN number will tell you is the model year.

Yes you do, a "sticker" on the drivers door frame. Or at least you SHOULD. Did you buy the car new or used?

A more accurate method is accessing the Nissan Service Comm database which will give you the exact build date (11/14/02 in my case) of your Z and in addition the plant (Oppama) as well as the PDI date, retail date, in-service date. The database will work on cars back to '84 and the only way to access it is to visit your local Nissan dealer in the Service or Parts Department and of course bring your VIN#.
