Default Borken in? What changed?

I'm over the 1200 mile mark now (by a few hundred) and have noticed a few differences since the car is brand new...

1) the idle point has changed. After about 600 miles, the car no longer dropped down below 1k rpm immediately after starting it up. It now takes a couple of minutes at stand still for it to drop significantly.

2) I now have tranny whine. Started yesterday, at just under 1500 miles...I had been wondering what I was missing with everyone bringing it up right away, now I know. Makes me feel like I own a turbo (at least in 1st and 2nd gear).

3) the shifter - man oh man, has it gotten easy to shift.

4) the bose - hasn't changed. I still don't listen to the stinkin' radio, only CDs, which, for some odd reason, aren't affected by the volume control bug that often in my car.

Anyone notice similar differences now that you've broken it in?

Josh

Yeah I noticed that I now have the tranny whine. The clutch also feels lighter making it easy to shift. The whine could get annoying after a while but its that damn grease strip on the window everytime I roll it down that I can't stand.

I am still at only about 550 miles, but there has been a big change in the feel of the clutch. When I drove Takao's it felt a lot different than mine (150 miles on it at the time) but now it feels about the same. I have had the tranny whine pretty much from day 1, and the synchros seem really loud, but sound okay.

At 50miles so far... I don't hear anything. Vibration is not as bad as some other cars I've driven.

The only particular sound I notice is from the engine... that turbine like sound whenever I pedal it. It's annoying and cool at the same time.

VG engines I think have a smoother motor sound.

In another thread someone mentioned they're having the dealer clean off the rollers when they take it in for the 1st oil change, I think that's what I'll do too. It is pretty annoying.
