Default residue on exhaust tips

own an '04 roadster... noticed a lot of excess (looks like) carbon on the inside of the exhaust tips... the black dust, combined with condensation, is dripping out the bottom part of the pipe and creating an ugly brownish/grey film on the bottom of the tips... easily wiped off, but i'm not so sure this is healthy. This is my second 350z... had an '03 coupe and didn't notice anything like this.

i just had it by the dealer and they said it was normal on most z's.. they said if the car was running rich or otherwise, the check engine light would be coming on. not so sure i believe him.

anyone?

Default Normal. YES.

Just take a small rag will some gas on the fingertip. Liittle rub across the carbon and it will come off pretty easily.
