Question Should i wax my new Z??

I just bought a new 2004 Nissan 350Z about a month ago, and I was wondering if I could wax it with damaging the new paint. I have asked my friends about this but I receieved mixed answers. I wanted to wax it now but wanted to make sure it would not damage the paint. I know if you paint an older car, you need to wait 6 months to wax it, but I think new factory paint is different. Any advice would help. Thanks!

why not?!?!? WAX AWAY!!!! You need protection for that front bumper ASAP.

Our paint chips quite easily, so you might want to consider getting a clear bra too if you want more protection.

Wax it........No.

Zaino it.......ABSOLUTELY!!!

The 6 month rule for a painted car isn't really valid either but we have debated this so many times, I really don't want to start it up again

Zaino is safe to put on your car and the sooner the better.

I put on the first of my current 68 layers four days after I took delivery and would have done it sooner if the weekend had come along any sooner.

You don't need to wait 6 months to wax a new car. The paint is cured at the factory in ovens. A clear bra for the front bumper and part of the hood is definitely a good idea. Zaino is a good product but expensive. There are other "waxes" that are equally as good, in my opinion, but cheaper. I use Zymol on my Silverstone and it looks just as good as a car with Zaino.

Zaino is not expensive. For what you get in a starter kit, you won't have to buy again for at least a year or more.

There are two kinds of Zymol. One is the cheap version they sell in WalMart and the other is their premium brand that sells in high end car catalogs. Funny that the cheap stuff perfomed just as well in the Guru Reports study a few years back. Zaino will shine just as well as any other product and will outlast ANY product out there. For durability there is no other product out there that compares.

You're correct the cheaper Zymol is just as good as the more expensive and that's the one I was recommending. As far as durability goes I have to ask you if Zaino has such great durability why is it that you need 68 coats?

NO....no....no..... not another Zaino thread..........

PS: I recommend Duragloss. I've used it on all my cars for the last 15 years. https://www.duragloss.com/new/index2.html

PSS: Don't forget to claybar first thing before you do anything.

NEVER trust what a dealer says!!! Seriously, you DO NOT have to wait to polish your car. By the time the car comes off the line, sits on the factory lot, is transported to a ship, floats over to the USA, is taken off the ship, sits in port, is loaded onto a train, then onto a truck then driven to your dealer, then sits on his lot........

Trust me on this.

You are not the first one to ask me this and you most likely won't be the last.

Dr. Bonz,

That was a great explanation of why you love waxing your cars. I can understand it because I too use to do a very stressful job and would "relax" on my days off doing an activity (sailing) that would take my mind far away from thoughts of work. But your explanation of why you wax doesn't really answer my question about durability of Zaino. How can you tell how durable it is if you never give a waxing chance to wear?

I don't really need to since these guys already did the work for me:

http://www.gurureports.com

Click on the "wax test". You won't be able to read it since you have to buy it but to summarize, these guys did a VERY intensive study of 46 different car detailing products (waxes and polishes). They studied variables like shine, gloss, reflectivity, DURABILITY, color retention, availability, ease of use (going on and taking off). Zaino won the overall shootout and KILLED all the others in the durability catagory.

Zaino once and you'll never go back!
Yep. Couldn't agree more.

Which is a good starter kit?
Either one of those is good. Just get the one you feel you can afford.

And before I get more PM's asking if I am in ANY way sponsored by Zaino, the answer is NO. I do not get anything other than a great shine on my car from Zaino!

Sal and I ARE phone buddies though

NO

Here is a little history... https://www.duragloss.com/new/about.htm

I only know of them because I grew up in the town where they were.
