Default the tires....

How good are the tires on the non-rays 18's? I don't know much about tires so your input would be helpful, thanks.

Default Tires

I have the stock tires on my Touring/Performance Z car and they are great for dry roads. You don't want to be accelerating hard out of a corner on a wet road though, you will be sideways in no time. As for road noise, the tires are pretty quite. The treadwear rating is 140 - equal to about 12,000 miles. What I've seen the tires will about $270 to replace. I don't know if I will go with the same tires when I replace them. There is some others out there that I think will give me the same performace, traction, etc... for the same money and last a few thousand more miles. I will look at the Toyo Proxes T1-s (not sure if that is exact name) or the Michilin Pilot series.

I'm planning on keeping my stock tires, but when it comes time to replace them, I'd definitely go for the Michellin Pilots. One word of caution. Avoid Goodyear Eagle F1s--really hard compound, not good for launching, and really suck in the rain (they're the reason I don't have a Camaro SS anymore).

The old Eagle F1 has been discontinued. They are in the process of launching a new F1 that seems to test out as good as anything on the market according to Auto Bild.

With the VDC on to handle launches, the stock tires work _great_ in the rain.
