Just got a new CS 350Z, however having problems already
I just got a 350z, and I must say it is an amazing car. Unfortunately my local Nissan Dealer has tainted my experience so far. Maybe it's just my sales guy...maybe it's just car dealers in general. To make a long story short...2 days after I drive the car off the lot, the Service Engine Soon Light comes on. I take the car back for servicing, and they say I have a bad oxygen sensor. They order the part...and it takes nearly 3 weeks to come in. The part finally comes in, and I return the car for servicing. I get the car back thinking finally everything is good, so I take the car out for a drive, and the Service Engine Soon light comes on again. Not to mention...the temp registration on the Z expired and they still haven't given me my plates. I call my sales guy, and he never calls back. I'm calling the dealer up tomorrow demanding that they fix the problem. What if the car actually has an engine problem. I could be driving the car around causing more damage, while the dealer is just claiming its a sensor issue. Just curious to see if anyone has had the problem of a re-occuring Service Engine Soon light, and this so called Oxygen Sensor issue. Has anyone had as shitty of a service as I have? Other than that, the car is beautiful, kicks ***, and turns heads! Here is a pic. Wheels are the first mod of the day...pending they fix the Engine Light issue. Anyone know any wheels that look especially good on Chrome Silver? Cheers! -rod
Instead of changin censor, you should've tighten gas cup to 3 clicks. Light would be gone soon (not immediatelly).
As for dealers. They are all bad (with some exceptions, but I never met those exceptions). Treat them like I treat ants on my driveway - dust em if they are too close to the hause, don't pay any attention if they keep the distance. They are not friends, they are just there and you have to leave with them.

Many 350Z's are getting their ECU's reflashed by the dealers because the parameter boundaries for some of the sensors (in particular the O2 sensor) are too narrow and are causing the ECU to throw a code when they really shouldn't be. Not saying that's the case with you. As recommended above, I'd start with the gas cap and go from there. Good luck.

The check engine light mainly has to do with pollution controls. It is meant to scare you into keeping your pollution controls functioning. It sure worked with you. I have a car that has had that light on for over 1 year. The dealer said it was because of a secondary oxygen sensor, and was probably due to carbon build up in the cylinders. When the light annoys me I use a strategically placed piece of black tape to fix it.
