break in period for a 350??
i just picked up my 350 and i was wondering what is the best way to break it in. at the dealer one guy told me i dont have to and another told me to take it easy for 500 miles
The manual says under 4K rpm & no hard acceleration or breaking for the first 2000 kms (1200 miles)
I had never driven so much as I did in the first two weeks of owning my car so I could start opening her up.

I'm also in the process of "breaking in" my Z... And it is no easy task. I just want to stomp on the pedal... I can taste the power, but can't ignite it. Just curious... How would you define "hard acceleration?"

Long story short, there is not solid answer. Some believe (myself included) that to break in by manual will produce less than perfect results. Others go strictly by the book.
My break in period ends as soon as I pick up the car. I have no patience to drive at the ridiculous speeds they recommend. I go pretty much all out as much as I can. It's very tough in a performance car to adhere to their schedule. I have never ever had a problem with any of my cars engines let alone a problem resulting from not adhering to the recommended break in schedule.
