I Received the Bose "Fix"

I picked up my Z (PPW/Touring) the end of 8/02 and love the car except for the stereo. My dealer has been in touch with Nissan in Jax, Fl and on 10/11/02 the dealership received (Fedex from Bose) a new amplifier to place in the car. I was assured this is not simply a "replacement" amp, but rather a fix which Bose has been working on for weeks in response to the numerous complaints about the ruddy, muffled sound, especially on the radio (as opposed to CD play).
The improvement is amazing. I actually enjoy listening to the radio now. The vocals in songs are easily heard with good sound separation. The bass is noticeable, but has a pleasing not overbearing sound, even at factory preset levels, ie, bass, treble, fader, and balance at zero. (I previously has to do some weird adjustments just to listen to the radio--- bass -3, treble +2, fader -2,etc...).
Also, the amp is located in the left rear of the car next to the spare, so the dash/radio did not have to be invaded and make squeaks more likely. The new amp took less than 30 minutes to replace.
The new one looks just like the old one, but has obviously been tweaked. I have attached pictures of the new amp from Bose.
I hope this helps everyone. My last two cars were an Infiniti Q45 and a MB E420. The stereo now sounds better than the stereo in either of those.

PS I cannot get the file of the amp to attach. It is 640 x 480 and only 32kb jpeg, Any suggestions? I get a message "the file is too big.."

I spoke to my dealer today (car expected next week) and he says the stereo fix will be performed at the port after it is unloaded from the ship.
Because of the port lock out I figured I would not get it for several more weeks but the dealer told me he has already received + delivered two since the lockout ended and I am next up on the list.
I am now starting to get excited!

Congrats sag. One problem down.

Sag can we get a higher resolution pic of picture no. 2 (the labels in particular). I wonder if the label would clue us (those who are about to get our cars) in on if we got the bum amp or the fixed amp.

Sag,
I'm happy to hear your audio problems are behind you. This is the second case of a new amp being installed as the resolution to this issue I've read about in the last few weeks.
And that is weird.
I was told specifically when I filed my case with NNA (Case #3903136) by Angela that the amps would NOT be replaced. She said they were aware of the post on zcar indicating a new amp was supplied as the fix but she assured me this was not the case.
Two days later, I received this non-specific quote regarding the Bose issue. The truth is out there.....

Z Girl...sorry for the late reply.
I had been in contact with the manager at the Nissan dealership and he knew a solution was "in the works".
His contact at Nissan in Jax, FL called last week and said a shipment was on the way Fed-Ex from Bose.
The manager actually thought they were shipping a radio, but called me and said it is an amp and I took my digital camera when I left the Z.
As far as arranging the fix, Nissan has not published a TSB as of yet, so many dealers may be clueless about the amp replacement.
I hope this helps,
Scott

As I posted in another thread, ZISME says that our dealers will not know about a fix until sometime in November, at which time we can get our Stereos Fixed.
I would still like to know if the auto volume changes have also been corrected. Mine has changed volume even after sitting at a light for over a minute.

That's great news for you but.....I was there last week and drove the service manager around so he could "hear" the problem first hand. He said this was the first complaint he had concerning the Bose.
Guess who I'll be calling tomorrow morning???
Thanks again.
