Did I *%&# it up? Was driving fast, accidentally shifted from Drive to Neutral....
Did I just mess up my automatic transmission? I was really into this song I was listening to, and I just filled up the Z with some gas so I thought: "What the hell, lets have some fun." So I promptly attempted to switch to "manual mode" as I was flooring it, and I tried to do this at 4000-5500 rpm (can't really remember, however I am nearly positive it was past the middle point of the gauge).
Unfortunately, I accidentally hit the shifter from Drive into Neutral instead of hitting it to the manual mode area (very careless I know
) and then I panicked and quickly hit it back into Drive. A few minutes later my buddy commented that the Z sounded a bit different than usual, and I thought the same.
It seems to perform just as well, and I think it sounds the same too; its just all in my head....hopefully. What kind of damage did I do?

I was test driving an auto enthusiast and while driving I decided to switch into manual mode which I did. I had it down to 1st gear and while in a U-turn going on to a highway. Well, I forgot I had it in 1st since I was checking out the interior of the Z at the time. So then as I pull out on the highway I notice that the Z was racing hard before I realized that it was in 1st gear so I kept trying to up shift quick when I should have just put it in drive. And my wife was screaming that she though I might total the test drive car! In fact it was the only Z car Nissan had that day for me to test drive. The salesman kept telling me to drive slow and don't put many miles on it. And I kept telling him don't worry about it will be fine. Well, I never told him what happen and did order a 2004 DB Touring from him that same day. It was a great experience driving that Z to the rev limit.
