04's don't have hood sensor?
Hey people,
I have an 04.5 coupe and just noticed that it does not have a hood sensor in the engine bay. In other words, when you open the hood the door open warning light does not come on. I was installing the Insamamine ground kit and the instructions mentioned how I needed to remove the sensor bracket assembly to get to the ground wire. But there was nothing there. Now I'm curious as to whether my Z is missing the piece or if it was removed from the newer models.
Can you guys with an 04.5 Z coupe please check your engine bays and let me know if its there. I've attached a picture of what it looks like.
Thanks
ISH

Now I'm curious.....why would they remove that feature from the newer models???

No hood sensors in the 2004 model as well as the 2004.5 models (my production date: 9/03). Why? I have no idea. Made installing the ground wires a bit easier though.........

Now , to be a bit more serious - if your hood werent latched well- and you were going down the expressway at XXX miles per hour - it is possible ( has happened to autos over the years ) - the hood could fly up - block your vision - and you might run into an object / car that moved into your pathway. I've never had it happen to myself or anyone I have known personally.
Happy zzzzzzzzz-ing!
The knee pads come on the 2004.5 models..........can also buy the inserts aftermarket from Nissan in needed. I went and sat in one with the pads and they're useless for me - knees didn't come anywhere close to the pads!!?? You need short legs and the seats pulled almost 3/4 to the front for them to be effective. I'm only 6' tall and prefer to drive with the seat drawn back aways & knees are nowhere close to the pads.

Yes! Wouldnt you know the hood was opened if you opened it?? You wouldnt have to get back into the car for it to tell you that!

I'm 6'4" tall, and I love the knee pads, although my legs are so long that they're really more like "upper-calf" pads, but they still keep my leg off the center console.
