That our Z's share quite a bit of design in common with all the other Nissans... for example, the style of the steering wheel, the door remote, the NAV system, etc...

It kind of cheapens the Z IMO... I kind of wish everything was unique to our care... not shared with the others...

that's what we have modding for!

to make our cars reflect who we are, and what we like...

that's the best part about owning such an awesome car, you get to make it even more beautiful and sort of design it yourself! I LOVE IT!

I'm ok with it... since we aren't really paying a lot extra for the Z...

I mean, if the Z was like a $70K car, I'd hate to see those similar stuff on other $20~$30K Nissans.....

Does`nt bother me at all. I like a lot of the other Nissans.
I actually thought about a new Maxima SE before I got my Z.

it actually REALLY bothers me...

the thing that bothers me the most is the fact the many other Nissans share the same or similar headlights.... it's a really sporty headlight, and shouldn't be put on family sedans....

but on the other side, Nissan knows that the Z is the most attractive one they have on the line... so they just wanna get more ppl buying their line....

It seems like most car manufacturers seem to do this to some degree. It is probably done for the sale of brand recognition. I doubt that Nissan designed the Z and then copied its styling to other models. It was probably more of an overall design theme that they wanted to incorporate into all models. It kinda bothered me in the beginning but I got over it.

Imagine vette owners when they see the same style of radio as a truck. I hope they still dont do that to them....

I accept it due to the price. It does give me a sense of a family feeling towards other Nissans though....

Sharing parts with other Nissans is a major reason why the Z is affordable...but it can annoying.

Doesnt bother me at all like the guys are saying its called brand recognition, most mfg's do it. The Z isnt a limited production car we need to realize as well.

what bothers me the most is the Z doesn't seem significantly faster than a maxima or even altima.

sometimes I think the Z is more about looks with being slightly faster and better handling than a maxima or altima.

The Z isn't all that light of a car. It's pretty heavy. When europeans say it's another american muscle car, that's kinda how I see it these days.

It bothers me more that we share the frame used in the FX.... Too bad the Z couldn't have gone on a bit of a diet. But, like everyone said, there's the price factor. Can't complain much

Actually the trucks get nicer radios. You can get XM and Onstar in them but not in a Vette. Even better is that the new LS2 engine is just a 6.0L truck short block with LS6 heads.

The only GM with any kind of decent radio is the GTO, it comes with a Blaupunkt.

I was worried about not knowing what key & remote went with what, because we already had a 03 Pathfinder. Turns out my Z has an extra button on the remote and the key had a chrome "Nissan" and the Pathfinder does not (don't know about the 04 PF).

You will love the common parts in four or five years when you go to the dealer because the nav system broke and they have one on the shelf and don't need to order it.

You will love the common parts when you are tuning because it will remain profitable for tuner companies to build parts that are shared between different years and models.

Look on the bright side, the Viper, Neon and Minivan all have the same crosshair grill.

I saw the japanese Z's look like they get a different key than our's. It's bigger and has the lock/unlock buttons right on the black part of the key.

I noticed the similarities as well, but it doesn't bother me that much, because i see it as how someone else put, it's brand recognition. At least we don't have the same grill that most every other nissan has.

But if you want to look on the brightside, at least it's not as bad as the similarities btween the mazda 3 and rx8. Almost everything on the 3 looks to be copied off the rx8 (very similar designs, not exact of course) from the lower rear bumper, gauges/dash, to even the engine cover.

Well it never has been signifcantly faster than the Maxima and at some points in the 80's and 90's the Maxima surpassed the N/A Z in acceleration.

from 85-89 they were about the same
90-91 Z was quicker
92-94 SE Max about the same as N/A 300ZX despite having 32 less HP
95 Max tested faster than the N/A 300ZX at that time.

Blesphemy!!!

Well that's how it is. Gotta keep the cost low. It's good news for the Altimas, Maximas, Murano, Sentra, Pathfinder, FX-whatever... G35 owners as they can say that their dashboards is from the Z. Or my Altima has a Z engine. Never hear a Z owner said that his engine is from an Altima!

I think other than the bodyshell, everything else are from one other Nissan/Infiniti product or some kind! Crikeys!
