Good luck man. Keep your head down, listen to the guys you're replacing and ask questions as much as you can.
If you have internet over there and you need something to help pass the time, let us know and maybe some of us can get a "Care Package" together for you.
Oh, and THANK YOU.

You said you are going to have someone drive your car around the block while you are gone. Put yourself in that person's position, they ain't no way he is going to stop with just a trip around the block. Better check your odometer before you leave.
Take care!

You've received a lot well intended 'good luck' wishes. But, I've learn that God doesn't give 'good luck'. He gives out BLESSINGS. So that being said, I am asking God to bless you with wise preception, keen senses, eyes of an eagle, and that He sends His Angels of protection to encamp around you ... To provide you with safe conduct so that you may return home to your family and love ones. And last but not lease; THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE.

Take care and keep your head down. Take some Tang or kool-aid with the sweetener already added. I have a good friend over there now that I just talked to and he said to send those in the next care package because water gets old quick. He also said that today was 125º so if your unit didnt give you a camelpack you might want to get one.......not that you need something else to carry and all, but it's useful.
Thank you, look forward to hearing from you when you get back.

Best wishes to you! We hear from a lot of military personnel in Iraq via the Internet and by phone (got an Altima accessory order today from a soldier north of Baghdad-sending it to his home in Arkansas), so hopefully you can stay in touch.

wick3d,
I am currently stationed in Iraq. I was mobilized Nov 03 and have been in country since March 04. Do you know where in Iraq you'll be? I am in Balad (LSA Anaconda...the largest base here). We're about 1 hour north of Baghdad. Has your unit mobed up already or are you going somewhere to mobilize? Let me tell you this...all the sh*t you learn in the states and in Kuwait (you'll be there for about 3-4 weeks)...forget it. Toss all the **** out the window. Im serious. I'm in a trans unit and eerything we trained on at Ft. Polk we NEVER use. When your on the roads the only thing you gotta do is drive pedel to the metal (serious) and shoot anything that threatens you. If someone gets hurt, you keep driving and medevac they azz asap. That's really all you need to know. Oh, it's hot as hell now (130 deg) but by the time you get here it will be fine again.
best of wishes man...if you come to LSA Anaconda, look for the 644th Trans...thats us.
