Default Trouble pumping gas...

Anyone else have a problem with gas pumps constantly cutting off prematurely. Never had this problem before getting my Z so Im pretty sure im not doing something wrong. Anyways sometimes ill get a full tank of gas no problem, other times ill have to stand there squeezing the pump repeatedly looking like a comeplete moron. Just wandering if anyone else has had this problem and if their is anyway to fix it.

Yes, every single time I get gas. It's annoying as hell. A lot of people seem to have the problem too.

I've never ever had a car that would fight with you over a full tank of gas. What gives?

I see you are from oklahoma too. Maybe it's something with the pumps around here?

ragtopz, I dunno what that link was about, but it wasn't about pumping gas.

All the threads I have read so far are inconclusive. Maybe I'm just not looking in the right place? There are definately a lot of people reporting the problem. There is nothing being done about it from the looks of it.

Its not the car, its the gas pump. Simply try a different one.

It's the gas pump? I have had this problem at just about every pump I've used. I just thought it might be a regional thing. I doubt every gas pump I've used was faulty though.

I've also filled many tanks of gas before, in many different places, in many different vehicles. I know how to pump gas. I've never had this happen before so I'm definately leaning towards the car and not the gas pumps and/or operator error. I've also read the owners manual.

Any other guesses?

when you fill up, rotate the handle clockwise, so the pump handle is parallel to the deck. it will fill up fine. any farther up, and the auto shutoff may not work.

I used to work at a gas station. Pump handles wear out and this immediate or too-early shutdown is a symptom of a worn out pump handle. One solution is to pull the nozzle out so only about half of it is in the hole. This may help.

I have had my 350Z for 18 months now, I have had this problem maybe three times. It is possible that you have a defect in your car, though. Take it to the dealer with an almost empty tank and (preferably) stay with them while they check it out.

I had that happen to me the first time I put gas into the Z myself, but, since then I have made sure the nozzle was put in at a slight angle and the problem hasn't come back since.

Heh, I only have the problem when I let off the pump, then try to resume again. If I just keep it at the original rate, voila! It fills to the rim

I have encountered trouble filling up too. It seems if the nozzle is not just right it keeps kicking off. First few times I could never get over 3/4 of a tank. Now I pull slightly forward of the tanks and I have had more luck. Like others have mentioned, I've never had a car that did not want go-go juice...
