Default Bad Habit

I've noticed that I'm getting into a bad habit of leaving the accelerator floored while shifting (When im racing). Is this harmful in any way?

When I read your name, and the title of the post I thought it was going to be about something completely different haha. But anyways I think what you're refering to is powershifting. Its not good for your car, but as long as you dont do it all the time its not going to hurt too much. Try not to make a habbit out of it though.

Thanks, Yeah...it isnt ALL the time, just on occasion. I'm guessing that the car runs faster when doing this? Can anyone comment on this?

The car doesn't literally run faster, but the shifts are faster meaning you lose less time between shifts. There was a member who "swore" his car ran mid 13s stock with just a cai . Dont know if he was lying but he claimed the only thing different really that he did was powershift, its a pretty popular racing method.

never have done it in the Z... but im assuming you leave the gas pedal floored.. and at the same time push the clutch down and shift up to the next gear.. would that be correct?

Why is it so hard for people to believe that this car can get into the 13's?? I never understood what the big deal was. 13's arent even that fast, as far as dragging goes...

Yes, it's harmful to your clutch.

Personally, I use proper technique even if racing. If you want to go faster, get a faster car or start modding. You could also keep doing what you're doing and just plan on replacing the clutch as soon as it wears out.

do it on the track when .2 matters. on the street, its not worth the wear on the clutch.

as everyone else has said, not worth it for street driving, unless of course you're looking for a good reason to replace your clutch,
