The topic speaks for itself... I know WRXs are very easy to steal for a car jacker.. havent hear hardly any stories about Zs being stolen. I was just reading a post where i saw 2 guys have their stolen. I was curious and out of precaution wondering how hard is it to steal a Z? and how many people on here have had their Z stolen or know someone with a Z who has had theirs taken. Thanks for the replies!!
No keys - no chip. No chip - no ECU. No ECU - engine no run.
Without the keys, it would take a pretty sophisticated car thief to "hot-wire" it to trick the ECU into thinking the chip is in place.
Somebody could steal it by pulling it up on a flat bed tow truck and take it away. But then they still have the problem of getting it started. They'd have to buy a new ECU and keys I'd suppose.

It would be fairly hard to steal a Z... first you would need the keys... which could be punched out..but then there would be no signal from the chip to the ignition so no ignition... i guess that could be fixed with a really damn expensive computer thingy that ive never heard of but im sure something like that exists... but yeah.. in order to steal a Z you might as well buy one yourself but thats my personal opinion if someone knows how to steal one really fast... ide refrain from posting it.

Yeah well in my book, teenie-bopper at party distracted by puppy then guy swipes keys from hand and smashes into tree doesn't count. Then again, who reads books these days.
Google is your friend.
Forum search is your friend.
Look for the Nissan section in the pdf. I'm not sure how easy it is to get that equipment.
Forum search reveals you can swap out the ECU and use your own key in the ignition. This is time consuming and possibly expensive. Easier way is to pop the door handle and short the wires. This makes the window roll down (safety feature). You jump inside, pop the hood and disable the battery to cut the alarm. Then you put the Z in neutral and tow.
Dunno how much of the above is bs.

you dont need a new ecu...only the cunsult ll....just about any auto mechanic has the tools to steal it...with the consult ll you can program any key and computer to work together once a key is cut for it
just knowing the process of what it takes to steal a z..most likely whoever has those kind of resources is probably going after higher end beamers and mercedez..not to downgrade our car but with that kind of technology I'd be using it for much more profitable and easier to find cars.

On a brighter note, 350Z is not a very popular car... Since car thieves make money off car parts these days, they rather go after the more demanded parts like those on a Camery, Accord, Civic, Integra,.. Taurus.. etc.

When you use the club, the thief is gonna go some where else 99% of the time, its a deterrant. He is not going to waste time sawing the thing. If a thief wants your car,no protection on earth is going to save you!!!Use the club and your factory alarm and all will be fine, just my belief!
