Overall, how are the Nissan dealers treating you on trade-in?
The only reason I ask this is that this is a hot car and I wonder if Nissan is doing what others (PT Cruiser, New Beetle, T-bird) did at release. They know they have a hot-seller so they feel that they have no obligation to give you squat for your trade-in.
I wouldn't mind trading my Jetta just for ease, but I'll sell it outright if the dealers are stealing the trade-in's. I'd just go to the dealer, but I wanted to get an overall opinion before I drive 50miles to the dealer.
Thanks!

Run a search. There are a lot of us concerned about this issue.

I talked to one dealer about doing a pass through delivery. In other words, I find my own buyer, trade it in to the dealer and have them immediately deliver it to my buyer for our agreed upon price. This saves me taxes, because in TN we only pay taxes on the difference.
This dealership said they'd already done one like that, so hopefully I can work something out and get mine sold (when I order, hopefully soon).

That's a really interesting idea. I'm worried about what my dealer will offer me about my tradein when my Z comes in. They have every reason to lowball an offer, let me walk away from the deal and try and sell it at some inflated price. I've done my research, I know what I should be getting for my car. So, your point about this agreed upon price is kinda neat since I have a few people interested in my car if I do not trade it in. I'd like to avoid that tax thing as well.

I got $1000 more than I owed on my 2000 Honda Prelude. I was satisfied because I thought like you, why give anything for the trade-in when, if I cancel my order, they can sell it for $5000 above MSRP. I feel fortunate.
