![Question](https://my350z.com/forum/images/icons/icon5.gif)
I originally posted on the roadster forum a couple of days ago about an annoying mystery whistle that seemed to be connected to speed (60-80 mph) rather than rpm. Later, I discovered that rolling up the passenger side window w/the top down eliminated the sound entirely, and for various other reasons, determined that my particular whistle had to be airflow related, not the rear gear, as other people have experienced.
Now, because I have learned that the whistle may be heard with the passenger side window down, even if the top is up, I thought some coupe owner might have had this experience, even though I haven't found any other posts about it. The final, and maybe most important, clue is that the whistle also disappears if the passenger folds in the passenger-side rearview mirror, and the sound quality of the whistle changes if the passenger shoves fingers into the grooves on the right inside of the mirror housing. As best I can tell, the foam inserts behind both mirrors are in the same place, and the driver side mirror doesn't whistle.
BTW, my car didn't whistle for the first month after I bought it; my wife has ridden in and driven my car before and after the mystery whistle appeared and agrees it wasn't there previously and is indeed present now. Further, she also has a new roadster and her car doesn't make any such whistling noise.
Any suggestions/bright ideas? This thing's really getting on my nerves; I'm tired of having to blast the Bose to drown it out.

I own a coupe, and I the only time I hear a whistle is if I am going over 60 with the windows down. No sound when the windows are rolled up. My best guess is the wind passing over the seat belt makes the noise. The sound is the same for any car at high speeds, in my experience. But if the sound you are hearing changes with playing around with the mirror then it could be completely different. Check to see if the mirror is loose.

Sorry, I couldn't resist. Look on the bright side. At least you won't hit any deer.
