How to remove black paint from side Z emblem?
I must be a moron b/c I used a bottle of "Gumout Fuel Injector/Carburetor Cleaner" with bar code 0 71948 07518 4 and it did not work. I used a rag, a scotchbrite scrubbing sponge even and I can't get any of the paint off.
What is wrong with me?? Help!

ok the product i used is called Gumout Carb + choke cleaner
bar code 0 71948 07459 0
i saw what you got and started to get it but i remember some one said the word Carb so i got the one that exactly says that
so you might just run up to the store and pick up the other kind
i bet what you got is a little different. cause i swear i sprayed a little on a wash towel and as soon as it touched the paint ....the black would almost run of by itself it took me less than a minute of light rubbing to get it all off .

i wouldnt use and kind of abrasive sponge becuase you could swirl the metal under the paint. cause its just like the handles and i scratch them everytime i touch them for some reason just use a cotton terry cloth towel it worked perfect

mc350z - thanks for the info. The GUMOUT Fuel Injector/Carberator cleaner in liquid form is NOT what you want.
The GUMOUT Carb/Choke Cleaner that comes in an aerosol bottle did it. I wish I could have distinguished... argh!

WoW! My car looks so much better now. Thanks for all the info. I used Napa Carb/Choke/Throttle Body Cleaner and it removed the paint in .2 seconds flat.
Emblems look much better now on my Chrome Silver Z.

I know this an old thread but I did this mod recently and decided to post a couple pics. Sorry the front wheels aren't pristine, but brake dust collects quickly.

I just did this today too. I first noticed that bubble had his done and asked him where he got his emblems....I thought they were custom...
I used brake fluid....worked great. I'll post some pics soon, it looks great on PPW.
I was asked once if my Z was a special edition. Pretty funny. I just think they match better with the door handles and goes well with SB.
Sly_Z did this on his PPW and I was very impressed with how it looked, so that's why I did it.
