Not the way to break in your Z
Well at least he's a guinea pig for testing how strong the rear end is. Notice how it seems only one tire is spinning even though this is a track model with the Viscous LSD.

What LSD?
Good observation about either inside rear breaking loose under power. I'm only familiar with helical differentials like Torsen that would never do that. Anyone care to comment about what might be happening there?

I actually examined the video more closely and saw that eventually the other tire started to smoke and spin as well. I think we are seeing the weakness of the stock viscous LSD. This one starts to work after one wheel has started to slip, and that causes the fluid inside the diff case to spin to give power to the other wheel. If you look closesly, after about a second that the one wheel starts to spin, the other starts to emit smoke.

It points up a real drivetrain weakness for autocross or track use. By the time the viscous coupling starts reacting, it may be too late for the car to benefit from redirected torque. That's why I like Torsen's so much...no wheelspin needed. They react at the slightest difference in axle rotational speeds, and they maintain their effectiveness for the life of the car. Wonder if Nismo has one in the works?

either way, easy way to find out guys... do a simple lauch with the RPMs high, say 5000? then examine the ground to see how many tread marks you got.
