Re: new colors?
Yellow is the rumored new color for 2005, but I didn't think the 2005's were supposed to be out yet. As far as I know Nissan hasn't made any sort of announcement about the new model year.
I am anxiously awaiting to hear anything about the 2005 models so I can place my order.

bidding??? that is nuts... I hope the only reason anyone would be bidding is b/c they want yellow.... and even then... buy a "non-yellow" one for $500 over invoice, and spend 3K on a good paint job!

Will you trade in your current Z (if you have one)
I called the dealer (the salesman had a lot of difficulty returning calls by the way) during the second week of may to confirm the car was ordered and to get the order number so I could track the car. They couldn't come up with an order number and only had the dealer order sheet, the one they fill out, as evidence that it was ordered. After a couple of weeks of run around (now in june) I ended up calling nissan to find out if it was ordered and they couldn't find anything to indicate it was. Nissan called the dealer who told them that it was ordered but couldn't confirm that, and that it would be in sometime in september. That would have been about right if they placed the order in july. They told nissan that if I wasn't satisfied that I could come up and get my deposit back, which I did.
At that point I figured I could go to another dealer and try to order a 2004 and get it in september, or I could wait another month or two and get a 2005. Now I am just waiting to hear anything from nissan about the 2005 models. If I am correct they announce the new model year regardless of wether or not they made any changes.
Anyway, sorry for the long and wordy post. I still get worked up every time I think about it. To answer your question, I don't have a Z yet, but I think I would have to see the yellow before I considered it as an option.

I saw that yellow Z yesterday driving up Sepulveda into LAX around 530
Stood out like a sore thumb
I doubt is was an aftermarket paint job, the car was stock.
could have been but I didnt think so.
With Nissan headquarters here in LA I'd bet it was the real deal
