"In the near future" tells me that they haven't ruled anything out, they are just not releasing a 35th anniversary edition initally. My guess would be that the initial press release from nissan, whenever it gets here, will be about the standard 2005 model line-up only. That will be followed in a couple of months by another press release announcing the 35th anniversary edition which will probably be released as a 2005.5 model.

As far as the delay in the 2005 announcement, I could only assume that they are holding off for a while so dealers can clear the 2004's off the lots. Logically, if there were no change with next years models there wouldn't be much reason to hold off on an announcement as it wouldn't make that big of a difference to the consumer. If they are going to be the same what difference does it make? In my opinion, the only logical reason to delay the announcement is if there will be improvements that could impare the 2004 sales. A 13-28 hp increase (300-315hp) could do that. A refreshed interior might do it as well.

This is all speculation of course, which is all any of us can really do right now. Customer service may be giving the right information, but it is possible they have been told to be quiet as well. I doubt that until Nissan announces anything formally, customer service, or anyone else for that matter, would be able to say anything. Just my guess...

Exactly. If there are no changes why would people wait to get a 2005, when they can go get one off the lot.

don't mean to stir up speculation or anything, but I was going through information in the 2005 Nissan Model Guide, and I saw a few minor changes for 2005, information as of 07/23/04:
- Enth & Perf gets auto dimming rear mirror
My 2004 Enthusiast has the auto dimming rearview mirror.

Some may be doubting the feathering is gone yet...2005's would be more of a reassurance, 2 years is plenty of time to get everything working fine. What does the average consumer know though? I just don't see any new models coming for early to mid 2005's. Also, a refreshed interior wouldn't be good imo, maybe some better interior quality and a door on the right side for non-sub-woofer Z's.

OK heres the real skinny...We got our 2005 model year order forms in today at the dealership. Yellow is defintely a new color for 2005. They are scrapping liquid aluminum, and taking away the nav option for the performance and track models. Interior is staying the same...horsepower is staying the same. As for the other cars...the 2005 sentra is getting three new colors...smoke, green, and dusk blue, the instrumentation stack will be a different color and they are adding a new sport package for the 1.8s. The quest is getting three new colors also, jade green (sorta like the qx56 green) black and midnight blue. SE-R altima will be available with red, black, silver, and smoke 6 speed or auto, the only option being TCS/Airbags. Murano is getting three new colors, merlot, smoke, and some wierd one. The SL touring package will now include the Mobile entertainment system. hope this clears up the rumors and this is directly from NNA and OMS.

- new color - yellow (E33-G)
- no sign of Liquid Aluminum as color
- Enth & Perf gets auto dimming rear mirror
- Perf gets 18" CAST aluminum wheels, not sure what that means
- 5AT w/ Manual mode gets a new feature called "Downshift Rev Matching" (i don't know what this is)
- Track gets "TBD Horsepower", and not available for sale until 12/04.
you wouldn't by any chance have a scan of the latest 05 model guide would you? i completely believe you because some of those changes are listed on the 6/17/04 05 model guide which someone posted a few weeks ago, but i'd like to get a copy of the latest one, if possible. thanks.

Anyone know if the suspension will be changed to correct the feathering?

I read the G35's will get update and the FX will get a more sportier/rugged suspension system. I think its really stupid to take the navi system away. At least they should keep in the touring and performance models. Its a great handy feature.

Hmmmmmmm, Iwould be pissed to get a 350Z which is supposed to be the icon with less HP than the G35. If the only thing theyre doing thats significant is adding a freakin color then that would be a shame. I personally think there will be a small bump in HP to atleast match what the G35 6MT gets.
G35/skyline might just be a bigger icon to Nissan than the Z, sorry to burst ur bubble dosnt suprise me 1 bit for g35 to have more power than 350z

He mentioned they're only taking it away from the track pack and performance, so the touring will still have the option.

I do agree with yiaquemini though... to me it seems the skyline is a bigger icon than Z... don't know why, that's just how i see it. Look on the bright-side though... the G35 coupe's supposedly 295hp vs our 287hp... that isn't a great/huge difference, plus they have to overcome the extra weight in their cars as well.

thats rubbish.

the Fairlady/Z are nissan icons.

The Skyline GTR is also an icon iin that its nissans "supercar". The reg skyline is simply a sedan...on par with the cedric/gloria of toyota.

Only time will tell.

Obviously - Nissan has a plan - or else we would already know something.

I hope the TBD hp up on the Track is something that I can put on aftermarket... or I'll be pissed!

I don't think there will be an upped hp for any 350Z, the email Nissan said 'no plans in the near future'...maybe mid 2005's will get an upped hp, but then it will most likely be under a different model, like an Anniversary Edition.

I totally agree. Nissan seems to want the g35/skyline to gain the same respect as the former r34. Thats why their bringing the GT-R back right?
