Default A New Z Owner Shares Some Thoughts

What's up everyone? Well I just wanted to start my journey into the world of everything Z, and I thought I would share some of my thoughts.

I've had my Z for about a month now, and I tell you the car keeps getting better. I've got a 04 Redline Couple, Touring (minus the OEM spoiler gggrrrrrrrrrrrrr) and I love it. I keep seeing Silverstone pics and that was my first choice, but then I saw Daytona Blue today, and I liked that! Then I see my Redline again and I love it even more. Bottom line, I don't think it matters what color the car is. It's just freakin awesome anyway you cut it.

I washed it (serious wash job) for the first time today, and I couldn't believe all of the dings and nicks in the front bumper cover and especially the hood. Being on a red car, they stand out like they're under the spot light! If it's not too late for you, I suggest the clear front bra. As for me, I'm thinking about a carbon fiber hood to solve my problem. Does anyone know if carbon fiber has the same drawback as far as paint chip effects?

Also, I was wondering if anyone has anything negative to say about the Nismo wing? I'm on the fence between it and OEM. Any input would be great.

Peace-out!

Hey there fellow new Z owner. I've had my Daytona Blue Track for about a month as well and I'd have to agree with you that it just keeps getting better. I can't wait till the break-in period is over, longest 1200 miles ever. The NISMO wing looks awesome IMO, but my car already has the factory spoiler and I really like it. Enjoy the car, I know I am.

Manofsteele, what part of VA do you live in? Haven't met anyone from N. VA that has a Z yet. The 1200 miles almost killed me. It took forever to get to. I drive my Z at about 70% (I think) and it's a monster even then. Yeah, enjoy your Z and all the looks. Seriously, I would look into the clear bra, especially on a Daytona Blue car. You're worse off then I am! lol

TwoNosBottles, I don't know how to post a pic, but you should be able to find one with a quick search on this website.

Later!

Hey TwoNosBottles, here you go: http://www.courtesyparts.com/Merchan...Category_Code=

liveoneva, I live in the Fairfax county area, and I have thought of the clear bra, but I'm still undecided. The way I look at is this: the way I go to work I don't drive on 495 or were there is alot of construction. I had my 03 Altima for about two years and it only had a few small chips on the front end. Plus I will be buying a beater to drive to work in and also for the winter. I still might do it, but as of right now I'm undecided.

Manofsteele, that's funny you should say that you're getting a beater. I kept my 99 S10 Extreme (which I still LOVE) and right when I got my Z, the truck died on me! And I work on a construction site to boot! Can you believe that? I park it as far away from everything as I can. And I stop at the local automatic car wash quite often. At least 3 times a week. Luckily, this one has dryers on it so it's not so bad.

I wish the Nismo wing didn't have the bulky boxed in part under the main wing section. That's the only thing that's pushing me away right now. Still thinking though.

Alright Gentleman...I think we've got a bunch of people here from NoVA that need to get together.

Liveoneva, I have an '04 Redline Track that I got in Feb. Car just now has 3300 miles on it.

How would all of you feel about attending a car meet this coming Friday night in Sterling. This car gathering happens every Friday, and all kinds of cars show up, from Vipers to old Cobra's to Supras to, hopefully YOUR Z!!! It would be really great to get Zs out there "in force".

What do you all think? Let's all get together and talk!!! You up for it?

Where: The Chik-Fil-A in Sterling near Lowes/Sam's Club/Wal-mart just off 28 behind the town center.

When: Meets go on every Friday starting at 8:00 PM until whenever people leave.

Who: YOU, ME, and EVERY OTHER Z OWNER YOU CAN THINK OF!!!

Why: Why the heck not!?!?!

Kcobean, Sterling is only 19 miles from Mansass, so count me in. Maybe we could meet somewhere else and then drive over there together as twins! I can't believe you've had your car since Feb and now only have 3300! I've passed 3800 and I've had it a month! I need to park it and let the months catch up to the miles, but it's just so much damn fun to drive.

Well, anyone else up for the meet?

Great!!! We could hook up elsewhere, that's fine with me. The Chik-Fil-A is only about 5 minutes from my house, but I'll scoot down 28 and hook up with you if you want. Keep an eye on the forum and I'll shoot you a PM about mid-week.

ManofSteele2003, care to join us?

Regarding the miles on my car, I kept my other car when I bought the Z, so some days I just force myself to drive the Probe so I can keep the miles down on the Z. I hear ya on the 'fun to drive' part though.

I get out plenty, however I couldn't make the meet in Springfield. I'm aware of the large number of Z owners in the NoVA area (especially having attended the last two Evolution meets), I just thought that since there are quite a few new owners, these regular Friday night gatherings that are already established (and in fact supported by the business who's property they are hosted on) would be a cool place for us to meet on a more regular basis than once every 4 or 5 months.

One of the reasons I bought a Z is because it's a cool "community car". I kinda want to get more into the community aspect of the car!!!

yeah, the guys were saying people meet on Friday nights at the Silver Diner in Springfield too.

I'm gone this weekend, but I think I might try for next week to at least troll by the Sterling place.

I'm definately interested in this Friday. We'll hook up somewhere, just name the place.

It's funny how many people want to race in POS cars! And how many people intentionaly DON"T look at your Z....I know it happens because I used to be one of them!!!!!! Now I just smile. Especially people in Celicas!

You can count me in, I live in Reston and that shopping center is about 5 mins. from my house.

By the way I had a guy try to race me in a FX35 on the way home from work, pretty funny. The exhausts on those things get suprisingly loud at WOT.

kcobean / manofsteele,

I'm fairly new to the area (about 6 months) so I'll leave the meeting place up to you. Sounds like fun, even if it's just three Zs cruising around! After watching some videos off of this site, I just had to go driving, even for just a short while, and it was 11:00 at night!

Let me know where you want to meet up.

Ok, do you guys know the Ferrari dealership on Rte 28? That's a great place to meet up.

liveoneva, for you, just come up Rt. 28 past Dulles Airport. When you hit waxpool road, you need to get into your left-hand lane (don't turn left, just get over to the left). Up one or two more lights, you'll see the Ferrari dealer on the left hand side of the road. Take a left at the light, then at the stop-sign to go into CarMax, take a right (If you go left, that takes you to Brown's Sterling Nissan!) Go all the way up and turn right into the Ferrari parking lot. What say we meet at 8:00. That way we won't be the first few folks there (it's always fun to make an entrance).

Sound like a plan to you guys?

Sounds good. It's just light enough at 8:00. I think every Z looks better at dusk, and it gives the HIDs a change to sign.

We'll talk before then I'm sure, but I'll be there.

Maybe you have a point flynnibus. We might want to stop at Car Max! Are you thinking about meeting up too?
